Marx Log SD 50804.07

Marx had left the bridge, and headed to the confines of the main Security office. He entered and nodded to MA3 (Master-at-Arms Petty Officer 3rd Class) Katsuragi, currently watching the Security board, before heading into his office and secured the doors.

“Security Log, Stardate 50804.07. With the exception of most senior officers and two new ensigns, the entire junior officer compliment is currently incarcerated in what looks like a gulag from the 1930s Soviet Union, in an effort to ‘appease’ the natives for firing on one of their ships.

“Captain Lo’Ami is currently in negotiations with an unsanctioned Ferengi, named Rhum, and his cohort Khola to act on our behalf with the Axrekravian government to release our crewmembers. I don’t trust either of them as far as I can through a D’deridex-class Warbird. But they’re one channel we have.

“I have asked Lt. Sema’J to consider the possibility of applying a cloak to one of our other shuttles and the X-wing. I felt I needed to have a backup plan just in case our diplomatic endeavors end up like our reconnaissance mission. Lt. Sema’J, his ‘crack’ team of two ensigns and R-4 are working to convert the Hadrian’s Wall to something that may not be cloaked, but at least difficult to see. Of course, they’re also going to have to convert a regular shuttle for a deep-sea recon mission, for some type of root that grows only at the bottom of the sea of some unexplored planet.

“Which makes me nervous as hell. Frankly, I’d rather have open heart surgery without benefit of anesthetics or modern medicine than go underwater. I had to remind Captain Lo’Ami about my psych profile. And I’m the only security officer left, too. Don’t that make for a win-win situation for me? Hopefully, there will be little need for me on this planet, and I can remain safely ensconced on the bridge.

“Marx out.”
