New TOS remaster to buy or not

JUST heard TOS second volume is coming -is it worth buying the new remastered versions of tos vol 1/2 or keep the original -any opinions should people buy it

Hi all...no one has really chimed in on this topic. I'm in the itunes library, have been working on building up a digital library on my computer and would like trek to be part of that. If I start buying eps of TOS should I buy from just the regular season 1 or the remastered. It looks as if the remastered does not have all of the episodes. Not sure. Any imput?

I don't believe he was talking about boycotting the remastered series. I believe TKAR was just asking if it was worth it to spend the $ for the new one.

Don't buy the original TOS, just go to cbs.com and watch the episodes there.

 

All of the Remastered episodes have not been released yet even on TV so it'll be a little bit before you could get all of them on downloads or such.

 

Between the free availability of the "original" Original and the quality and faithfulness of the Remastered... I'd say if ya gotta have something buy the Remastered.

Thanks, Kallah, that's what I was looking for. I do want to buy them, both on principle and because I'd like to have them for the future.

Alright, so been periodically getting and watching a new episode from the remaster. You know what those stupid remaster-ers did? They took the dang theremin out of the themesong and replaced it with cellos and violas....I was like "WTF?!"

 

Some background. A theremin is an electro-acoustic instrument that produces a constant tone via electrical signal and it's pitch and volume are changed by moving your hands in relation to two antennas (one for each property). With much practice, a player can gain enough control over those two properties to affect tempered pitch, timbre, articulation...and basically play it like someone might play a flute or piano. Neat eh?

 

Well, that ethereal, opera voice sound that you hear in the TOS opening...that's a theremin. Yes it sound ridiculous...however, it's awesome. But the remaster, at least the eps I've watched so far have just a lame string section. Grr.

 

Other than that, it's great so far.
