The Manticore has reached the Special Ops deep space research and docking platform known as Maturin Station.  Every year, the ship links up with Maturin for upgrades and new equipment.  The crew waits with eagerness and fear for the latest technology to be installed onboard, even if it's not really ready to be in production yet.  At the same time, there are some crew changes happening as well.
