Security Log

Security Officer's Log, Stardate 0802.19

Ensign Jaden Praxx recording:

I had my first opportunity to meet face to face with another member of the security staff a couple of days ago, Lt Victria. I must say I'm at a loss as to my impressions of her. She seemed to observe me quite intently, though I pretended to be unaware of it. Given her demeanor and the intense gaze she had fixed on me, I can arrive at only two possible conclusions: either she finds me attractive and is much less reserved about it than most women I know, or she wanted to tear my throat out. I've no reason to believe that I've offended her in any manner that would make her wish to, however given the look of those fangs of hers, I'm leaning more towards the latter case. I suppose it is fortunate that I spent all those years in combat training, atleast I'll make her work for it if she wants my blood. *chuckles*

On another note, Commander Segami has asked me to establish and begin implementing a hand to hand combat training regimen for all security staff aboard ship and also for any other crew members who wish to attend it. Lt. Victria seemed to take offense at my being appointed to that task instead of her though I am sure that Commander Segami has his reasons. I am hopeful that Lt Victria and I have not 'gotten off on the wrong foot' so to speak. From what I've been able to gather from her personnel file, her species tend to have a natural physical prowess and agility which would make them exceptionally adept at hand to hand combat. I am hoping to have the opportunity to consult her regarding the training program I plan to establish as I imagine she would have some very valuable insights into some advanced techniques that could be incorporated into the program.

As for the current problem the ship is faced with, I am very optimistic that we may have found a workable solution to our 'minefield dilemna.' It was suggested that we could use the new Anti-Torpedo Counter Measure devices that we recently took on to remove the mines. We're in the process of modifying a group of tac fighters to carry the ATCM's on their underbelly and deploy them in a pattern through the field that will allow us to pass. Since the mines apparently ignore smaller vessels like shuttles and fighters, we have high hopes it will be successful. Hopefully then we will find our missing fighter squadron inside the nebula and can put this nasty situation behind us. I fear that if we are unsuccessful, the Captain may give the order to abandon the lost fighter group and move on...I am confident however that we will not be unsuccessful.

End log.
