“Nicknames” – Part III of III

Log Series Part III

Stardate 48703.22

Age: 10

Garnoopy’s twin walked away from the house, into the woods that they were lucky enough to have. As he walked, he strung out an extension cord, bright orange, for power.

He and his brother had managed to get a hold of an old computer, and by working together, they had hooked it up in their tree house out in the woods, but it needed power. So, their idea had been simply to run a long cord out.

It had been especially rainy lately, and he Garnoopy’s twin stepped around puddles, loving the idea of having their own computer that the adults didn’t know about. He wasn’t quire sure what Garnoopy had done to hook up the cord, but he had said something about “no one would know they were taking power”.

He hopped over another puddle, and moved faster, a smile spread across his face.

Moving around a few trees, he continued out, there wasn’t much father to go, but it would take a few minutes of walking.

Skipping along, his pant leg suddenly caught on a broken tree trunk. It tugged his leg, and his body still in forward motion; he fell straight downward into a puddle.

His arms flailed, and water flew as he hit, and the extension cord he was holding went with him.

The water was a perfect conduit, the power flow began, and the entire puddle, along with the twin brother was suddenly filled with energy. Less than a second later, connection to the house exploded as the cord melted, power being drawn way to fast.

Garnoopy, watching their entire plans go up in flames, realized that something had gone terribly wrong, and raced out towards the tree house, following the orange cord on the ground.

He arrived at the puddle, to find his twin brother on his back, in a puddle. His blonde hair was standing straight up, his eyes were wide, and he wasn’t moving.

Garnoopy shook his brother, who looked at him and said in a daze “I don’t think it’s gonna work.”

Garnoopy chuckled, realizing his brother was going to be fine. “No, it isn’t going to work, but I must say… way to go Jolt.”
