Family History:

Son of Starfleet officers Horatio and Stephanie Praxx. His parents separated when Jaden was five years old due to conflicts arising from their careers. His mother was the chief medical officer aboard the USS Melbourne (NCC 62043), while his father was the second officer and chief operations officer aboard USS Bellerophon (NCC 62048). Their careers drew heavy demands on their time, and since neither of the ships his parents were stationed on allowed family on board, Jaden spent the majority of his childhood being raised by his paternal grandparents. His mother and father were both killed at the Battle of Wolf 359 when Jaden was 12. Jaden has no siblings.

Personality Profile:

Following the death of his parents Jaden became very withdrawn, he also was noted for holding his feelings of mourning and anger inwardly regarding the sudden death of both of his parents. He attended regular sessions with a counselor for about a year after his parents were killed but both he and the counselors felt that the sessions were only marginally effective. His grandparents were very supportive of him both before, and after his parents' death. As a youth, Jaden had an intense love for the game of baseball, and he participated in many leagues with other children his age. After losing his parents he considered quitting, but his grandparents persuaded him to continue feeling it might be a good outlet for him to not focus so much on his feelings.

At the age of sixteen, Jaden enrolled in a martial arts and self defense training facility in his hometown of Phoenix on Earth. He began training in the human form of Aikido and progressed at a remarkable rate, having attained the rank of rokudan (black belt, 6th degree) in just under 18 months. However, although his abilities were impressive, his instructors sensed that he had a great deal of anger and turmoil pent up inside him and felt that he would benefit further from another form of martial art training known as Tai Chi, which had a strong focus on meditation and inner balance as part of the training regiment. Jaden began training in the Tai Chi arts while also continuing, though less intensely, his Aikido training. After several months of practicing the forms and techniques of Tai Chi, along with his continuing training in Aikido, his instructors and grandparents both noticed that it seemed to be having a very positive effect on him. He still kept to himself a great deal, and infact dedicated the vast majority of his free time to practicing his techniques, but the pent up anger and aggression that had plagued him for the years since his parents were killed seemed vastly diminished.

By the time he was nineteen, Jaden had attained the rank of hachidan (black belt, 8th degree) in Aikido and had mastered most forms of the Tai Chi. He decided at this point to leave home and pursue additional studies. He arranged passage on a transport to an outpost near the klingon border where there was a facility that trained martial arts students in the klingon martial art form known as the mok'bara. The style was very similar to the Tai Chi that he had already learned, but the mok'bara offered much more advanced studies and forms than were available in Tai Chi. Praxx lived and trained at the facility for four years, learning both hand to hand techniques, as well as multiple forms utilizing the klingon bat'leth and mek'leth weapons, and during his fourth year actually participated as an instructor at the complex. During his time there he also became marginally fluent in klingonese.

Upon his return to earth at the age of twenty-three, Praxx decided, as much as a form of entertainment as it was to further his studies in martial arts, to begin studying the human sport/form of anbo-jyutsu. He trained and practiced the form intensely for roughly eight months, but then around the time he turned twenty four, put his martial arts pursuits on hold and applied to, and was accepted into starfleet academy. He applied the same vigor and determination to his academy studies as he had his martial arts training and excelled during the course of his attendance. He completed the entire academy curriculum in only two years. Prior to graduating and joining the ranks of starfleet, he decided to attend a six month advanced tactical training course that was offered to academy graduates who were pursuing a career in the field of security. In the course he recieved advanced training in most known forms of weaponry including phasers, disruptors, munitions and various close combat weapons. He was also given training in starship weaponry and tactics. Following his completion of the program, he was promoted to the rank of ensign and posted to the security division of the USS Excalibur.

Jaden works very well in group situations and seems to always have ideas and suggestions to offer in any given scenario, however despite the fact that he is well suited to group work, this does not typically carry over into social situations. He had a few people he was close to during his tenure at the academy but he was never known for being the center of attention. During social gatherings he would attend, he'd often be found at a table away from the main crowd, reading over his studies or engaged in quiet conversation with a friend.
