The name's Shane.

Howdy yal! Just wanted to interduce myself. I've already attended one academy sim (the last one of 2007) and I can't wait until I'm able to attend another. I have a couple questions. When I do graduate I'm gonna need a post where I don't need to be there every single sim, but I can still join in on the action when I'm there. Any suggestions? Also, is there such a thing as an Equipment Officer? Like the guy in the Holodeck room on the first Voyager Elite Force game?

See yal around!,

Shane

Hey Shane, Welcome to STSF ^_^

From my knowledge, none of our sims have a position labeled as Equipment Officer, but I could be wrong here. Most of the positions follow the type of roster in the academies, with Security, Engineering, Medical, Science, etc.

On your other question - I'll kick this to the individual GM teams of each sim. Each has their own policies about attendance and such :)

Hope to see you around! And don't forget to join us for Redstar Nightclub every Saturday night at 11pm EST in the Holodeck!

Hi and welcome. Hope to see you around in an academy.

Advanced players are generally expected to attend every sim. It's OK if you can't attend every now and then - real-life takes precedence - but if you're going to be get involved in developing some part of a plot, it's best that you be there to continue it and not just leave the other players hanging. If you know that you won't be able to attend often, you should talk to your intended sim's GMs *before* joining and tell them about how often you can attend so they can decide if you would be able to fit into their sim and where you could best fit in given your constraints.

I don't know of any ships with an "equipment officer" position. I'm not even sure what an equipment officer does.

On the Elite Force game the equipment officer supplied the Hazard team with weapons and supplies for an away mission. He also developed new weapons and tools for different situations(such as infiltrating a Borg cube, alien envirorments,ect.).

Good game! And yes, the equipment officer was there. Elite Force 2 I believe also had an equipment (perhaps a more recognizable variant of the equipment officer would be a quartermaster) officer as well.

As Lo Ami mentioned, I don't thing any ships here employ that position game wise.
