Schawnsee

Castles and TeePees

A joint log between Lt Schawnsee and Ltjg Angel

Kat sat at the table across from Angel. Still a bit nervous, but this is to be expected with making plans for such a large change in her life. She had taken a long sip of her coffee as Angel had asked her about needing to start making plans. It looked like he had come prepared with padds in hand. She set her cup down and took a deep breath. "OK so we have the Elders blessings. My folks and yours agree, what's next?"

Angel looked at Schawnsee from across the table and rubbed his temples. "Elopement comes to mind, and yes before you even say it, I know full well we cannot do so." He smiles and takes a breath then starts again. "My Mother and Father were literally going at each other on the location and ceremonial rights. It appeared at times they would get into a true heated argument. I sat and just listened to them go at it for thirty minutes. That was long enough for me to get a headache."

"Ok so what was their decision? You know the tribe would rather us come back to our native grounds for a traditional ceremony."

"Well after listening to them, it struck me they were both right and wrong. I proceeded to inform them of the obvious logistical problems there would be involved. The distance would be prohibitive alone. The decision was finally agreed upon that I had offered for consideration. We can have it here on the ship. The ceremony can be performed by the Captain, And yes with the Elders present, and family."

"I'm glad they agreed to allow the Captain to officiate. I'm kind of surprised that the Matriarch didn't want to do it herself. I'm kind of glad we are keeping it on the ship also."

"The few snags that still present a possible problem of course are the garments. This is not an insurmountable problem. Apparently the idea of a few subtle changes to the traditional attire will do well enough. The next small problem to manifest was of course the location. I am sure our Chief Engineer will help work out the details on the combination of a Scottish Highlands setting at the Family's Castle estate and the Tribal lands, and our village as well. The Holodeck should be perfect and the surrounding foliage of both areas should be enabled to be combined."

"Subtle changes to attire? As in what way?" Kat again picks up her coffee cup and takes another drink, alerting the waiter that they need refills.

"Ah! I see you are catching everything little one. Well as part of the deal to reach any semblance of agreement, the garment for the Bride would be traditional, as well as the Grooms, with just a few shall we say cross Races additions here and there." He picked up his mug and drains it watching her expression as doing so. He knew he would get her going a bit with that statement.

Kat looks up as he tells her this. "Now you have me *really* wondering. Cross race additions here and there? What exactly do you mean by Race Additions?" She then smiles at the waiter as he refills their mugs.

Taking the mug of fresh hot java, he sips at it. All the while knowing what was behind those beautiful piercing eyes he was looking right into now. "The minor changes are just a few garment exchanges and additions my love. For you, an addition of my Family's Clan/Tartan colors as in a sash from your left shoulder, across your body to your right hip. And a wee bit of the Heather in your hair. And you must be wearing a nice shiny pair of Ruby colored Slippers." He gulped at the last remark.

As he tells her the first part she smiles agreeing, but when he said the Ruby colored slippers, she raised a brow. "Ruby colored slippers? You HAVE to be kidding!"

Looking down from her gaze a bit, he shakes his head. "I only wish that was the case beloved. I assure you it is true. I knew you were going to have some issues with that last one." He then sits back a bit in his chair. "You have no idea what's in store for yours truly."

Kat sat back a bit, "What do Ruby colored slippers have to do with anything? Why not traditional Moccasins? Also what's changing for you?"

He sat back up in his chair and leaned towards her once more "The slippers are from the clannish traditions," he pauses a moment and then continues. "Well, as for me? I will be expected to wear the usual attire with the following changes. For one, I may wear my traditional native top attire (torso), with the Kilt, Sash, tribal headdress, garters/stockings and Moccasin boots no less." He shakes his head in an almost disbelief and sucks down the remaining java in his mug.

Kat nods, "That *IS* going to be interesting. OK so the attire has been set and the place, and the captain is going to do the ceremony. Which ceremony are we going to do. Or are we doing a combination of the two?"

"Well that's the other thing still to be resolved. I have not spoken to the Captain as of yet, I shall soon. Tomorrow I suppose. The other details of garment for the other wedding party members may dress in their respective traditional attire. The ceremony, I finally reached an agreement with both parties to allow the Captain to perform the Star Fleet Captains standard for marriage."

Kat smiled and gave a little chuckle. "The Captain, I'm sure will be glad to hear that part, if he agrees to officiate. Have you thought about an alternative if he declines? I doubt he will, but it never hurts to have a back up plan."

Angel looks up grinning. "Elope, and run off to Risa and hide from both Families for awhile."

Kat laughs a nice soft laugh. "You know darn good and well that if, well not if ... but WHEN the elders found out about that, we would be in DEEP trouble. I know I don't have to remind you about that."

"I know little one,, all too well. I have managed to possibly hedge the offer a bit to the Captain. When I speak to him I'll be bringing the bottle of 150 year old Glen Fiddich Scotch whisky to the table." Smiling he continues, "I took a valuable suggestion from one of our friends about when I approach the Captain. I will offer it as a gift. The friend of ours heavily emphasized it."

"Now *that's* a good idea. You might want to give whoever gave you that tidbit of info, a gift as well if the Captain agrees."
