A Talk With The Family

A Talk With The Family

Personal Log: Angelis,John,A.,Lt.Jg.

Computer begin recording:...Beep...

The Computer had notified my comm channel was open and party waiting to be placed on screen. Thumbing the switch the Visage of both his parents filled the screen. Commodore Mark Angelis(retired) still looked as laid back as he had when he and my mother had been at the port seeing their son off to his first assignment. My mother Eloni as radiant as I remembered.

Mother, Father ...Angel greeted them attempting to be as non shilant as possible. Father just looked on as if seeing right through my facade as easily as one peers through so much transparent aluminum. Mother just smiled that all knowing smile, Damn so many light years apart and they appeared to be able to read me like a tactical display.

Father I can clearly understand his approach to sizing up another, He was a retired flight group commander afterall;not easy to get one over on the old man. Mother...well with her special gifts in the way of the other part of my family, she has been on the elder council and a strong teacher in the no speak way of the people for as long as I can remember.

Son greetings from Earth...I understand there is a matter you need to discuss with us. now that was Mark Angelis to the core,straight to the point all business. I could not help but chuckle a bit at him, Father as subtle as and warm as always I see,Good to see and speak with you both. I noted the silence of my mother,though her sly grin and her pircing Blue eyes spoke more in silence than many speak in words.

Yes Mother... I started the next round of interrogation, you have heard as I am sure by way of the council and the vote therein taken I have asked your blessings in the matter of my Little One becoming my wife. Eloni was much more eloquent in her expressions and conversations than my Father, I suppose that is one of the reasons they appear to compliment each other so well. Mother expressed her joy and blessings as were the tribes at large.

The lone exception in the voting process was apparently my brothers grudgingly given approval during the polling from the family. Howard is my brother and Mother assured me he was only speaking in jest, his remark as was relayed by her" I will not give approval in this matter..for it is impossible for any woman to find him desirable let alone fall in love with him". I could not hold it in any longer I erupted into laughter,all the while Eloni looked on concerned I would take the comment to heart and take an offence at the remark. I looked on as my Father broke into a hearty laugh as well...the sheer look of total disgust at the reaction from he and I on Mothers features merely added to the laughter.

Eloni shook her head,mock look of anger on her face...followed by a wide smile told all was well. I will never understand you men,however I do not need to she as coyngly put her tongue out at my Father. I understand Mother what Howard had stated, as well do I understand why, He and I are very close and love each as brothers should. He said the words for he probably feels this will place more distance between us, next time you see him just remind him he is married and it has not detracted from our relationship a bit. Mother began to query as to where we had decided to have the union,as well as the thoughts of the entire village,when Father chimed in as it had been his desire to one day see his Eldest son be betrothed at the Scottish side of the families ancestral home in Scotland.

Sitting there listening I realized this was a conversation best held for another day. I interrupted them as they were going on,and on...Well folks I must be going,have to report for duty soon..I love you and will speak with you tomorrow, must run. They waved and stated they would be seeing me tomorrow on the comm and ended it with their love. Yessss...tomorrow would be another day to deal with indeed.

Computer End Log:: ..Beep..
