Guess who's new...

Well hi there everyone, i stumbled across this forum during a darkened late night internet stroll googling for 'Starship Arcadia' and i came across this rather intresting looking forum, truth be told I'm still a little lost, but from what i can gather it's where you all gather to talk about how well/badly (delete as appropriate) you just did in your latest Chat-room role-play.

Now so far it may seem like i'm bitching but honestly I'm not i LOVE role-play, I've been looking for a decent Star Trek one for a while now, judging by what i can tell IC all events seem to be taking place in a holodeck simulation which gives me an interesting character concept (see: Redshirt) I'd be eternally grateful if anyone could helpfully point me towards any useful links/info like rules and stuff because trying to navigate a new forum gives me a headache.

Hiya!

Check out the schedule. The academies are what you will want to get into, and once you graduate from the academies you can join an advanced sim.

Here are a couple other things you will want to read:

Help

Tips from the Moose.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask anyone. We'll gladly help. Have fun! Hope to see you out there!

Nope. You don't make a bio until after you've graduated and have been accepted into an advanced sim.

Just read the docs to get a feel for how to play and jump in to an academy. For the academy, just play a generic human who believes in the ideals of Starfleet. After you graduate and join an advanced sim, you will get a chance to create a character.

Just jump in? i thought I'd of had to make a Bio or something first for my character or whatever

Nope, that actually seems to be the misconception about the Academy. Your time in the Academy is to gain a basic understanding of the mechanics (Pep Boys and Mr. Goodwrench being the two primary choices  ) we use in the game system. Once the GMs feel you're comfortable with the system and role-play, you graduate and request posting to your Advanced Sim. That's when you develop your character, and any things that seem out of canon will need to be approved by your host team. I've been doing this for next to ever, and I still bounce ideas off my hosts.

By the way, welcome. And for all your technobabble needs, visit Memory Alpha or Ex Astris Scientia.

Alas, the time difference between beautiful Canada and sunny England mean i won't be able to play for a while as most of the sims start at 2-3AM for me, but luckily i'm a student so once i get my time off I'll be simming  if i get the chance i might even be simming before then
