“Masseuse at Large”

12.01.07

USS Agincourt NCC-81762

“Masseuse at Large”

Kairi had just finished changing out of her uniform when she returned to her quarters. The shifts seemed to get longer lately, as the crew prepared for what hopefully was going to be the way home. After changing, she laid upon her couch, quietly looking about her room.

Kansas was pacing outside the engineers quarters, not really sure what to do. She was already out of her uniform, opting for her usual capri cut sweatpants and tee shirt emblazoned with yet another JoNs family member’s ship or duty station of service. After another couple minutes of indecision, the feline rang the chime to the quarters.

Kairi sat up from her little daze, staring at the door. She wasn't expecting anyone over. "Come in."

The Caitian triggered the door sensors, and tentatively stepped in the chief engineer's domain. "Hi Kairi - I'm sorry to intrude...." she faltered, "...but you had mentioned earlier something about pressure point...accu puncture, or some such?"

The engineer giggled as Kansas was fumbling with her words. She got off the couch, sitting on the arm. "You mean a massage, and it's Vulcan Pressure Point." She motioned the Caitian to fully enter the room so the door could close. "I almost thought you weren't going to take me up on it, since Shadow did his healing thing."

JoNs purred a bit. "Oh, believe me - Shadow helped me out tremendously with that side injury." Her head cocked to one side. “It’s just that - pain meds can only do so much, and sometimes the body needs a jump start to make the healing process a bit faster. And without going into the full on species biological spiel, Caits, and apparently myself in particular, just can't handle the rough ground pounder type of training that the marines do on a daily basis...so...I was hoping you could help me out a bit further with the accu massage?"

"Of course I'll help." Kairi looked around for the best place to do this. "That is if you don't mind lying on my bed." It being the only place suitable.

Kansas looked a little disconcerted. "Your...bed? Is it that much of a procedure?"

The engineer smiled sweetly. "Trust me, it's the best place to relax. Go ahead and lay down face first, and I'll get things ready."

Well, she did join the Fleet to explore. Might as well start finding out new things on your own ship regarding your shipmates. The feline second officer settled face down as instructed on the bed. "Have you been interested in massage therapy for a while Kairi?" She rested her head sideways on her crossed arms.

"It's more of a hobby than anything really. I've always been told I was good at it." Kairi walked over to her dresser and opened the top drawer. She pulled out a few candles and placed them in various areas of the room. Once the candles were placed and lit, she returned to the bed, sitting next to Kansas. A sweet, soothing smell emitted from the candles. They weren't over powering at all, mostly cause of Kairi's sensitive nose.

Kansas wrinkled her own nose and her whiskers quivered as the scented candles burned; the smell wasn’t un-pleasant, but it was a bit overwhelming at first to feline senses. "If you should happen to...uh...hit a nerve, and I don't know, I become paralyzed or something... you can un-do the damage, correct?"

"What, you don't trust me now? Relax Kitty, the name is actually a little misleading. It's really quite pleasant."

"Okay then - let's do this."

Kairi giggled as the Caitian finally gave in. "Sometimes I like to use oils too, but with your fur...I don't think you would like that." She finally leaned forward, placing her hand on Kansas' shoulder. From there she slowly began to massage, making sure she touched key points in the security chief's muscles.

The feline officer felt various muscles that had long been stiff or sore start to relax and un-knot. She blew a purred breath out in relief. "We have good commanders, but their people really know how to work a being over." She had managed to tone down the undercurrent of embarrassment in her voice; over time, her discomfort and embarrassment regarding the enforced marine training was lessening.

Kairi giggled as she felt her fingers tingle from the purr. "You should be more careful with the marines. You know they play hard." Slowly her hands made their way down the middle of the Caitian's back.

"Aye, I intend to be way more careful. Or at least, as careful as my duties let me...I mean. Ah hell. Whoever says the command track is easy lies through their teeth." She changed the subject a bit.

"How are you settling into the engineering command Kairi?" The feline reacted favorably to the massage, stretching a bit, her claws splayed out.

"It's going really good." She frowned a little bit, "Well except for the thing with Harry..."

Kansas grunted. "Not your fault. He won’t be the first or last officer to sneak past the psych docs, and he might very well have made it through his entire career without going off. If he didn't go crazy here, he might have gone crazy on another assignment. I personally think being on assignment in deep space for too long can bring it out in certain beings."

Kairi then hit a very sore spot, and the Caitian drew in a sharp breath, her body tensing a bit. The engineering officer lightened her touch when she hit the sore spot. "Still, I can't help to think that maybe if I had been there for him more after Jim was killed, then maybe this wouldn't have happened."

"Well, sometimes there are no tell tale signs that someone is off, even if you work with a person day in and day out. I'm trained to look out for that sort of thing....but even training isn't always a guarantee."

"Yeah, I talked with Javin about this situation..." Which brought Kairi to change the subject. "Speaking of Javin, how weird is it that he's suddenly back?" She moved her hands down, slowly working on Kansas' lower back now.

"I'm still trying to get over his whole out of thin air entrance on the bridge." A light chuckle punctuated the statement. "But, it's good to have him back." Her tone then turned sly. "How are the two of getting along lately?"

"Um...I haven't really talked to him much. I visited him the other night to chat, and catch him up on what has been happening. But other than that, I don't know..."

Kansas shifted slightly to glance over her shoulder at the engineer. "I'm sorry Kairi - I didn't mean to tease or pry."

Kairi smiled in reply, and she continued to work. "It's alright. I know you can't avoid that natural curiosity of yours." She used one of her hands to gently bat Kansas's tail out of her face.

The Caitian security chief deftly steered the small talk back to official business. "If all goes well, and we are successful nabbing some of that Soltan vector drive gateway tech - you know, tecnobabble and I are not good friends - do you think you and your engineers will be able to adapt it and get it integrated into our engine warp systems?"

"Never doubt what I can do," she grinned as she worked her way back up, gently massaging the back of the feline's neck.

The sound of purring increased as Kairi started on the neck, and Kansas stretched luxuriously again. "I haven't felt this relaxed and pain free since before getting remanded to the punishment duty..."

"See, and you weren't sure about this."

"Well, you know. I hear 'Vulcan Pressure Point' and all sorts of scenarios enter my mind al la the neck pinch." The felines tone was playful. "And I subject myself to an unlicensed practitioner..." Kansas let loose with a purred chuckle, "...who is dang good, I must say."

Kairi finally finished the massage, letting Kansas sit up if she wanted to. "Well thank you very much. Make sure you tell all your friends," she giggled.

The feline raised herself into sitting position and rolled her neck. 'Thank you Kairi. I honestly feel refreshed." She sighed. "Between the general departmental concerns, and screwing up with that little end run stunt and the disciplinary training....thanks Kairi."
