Why are the boxsets so expensive? Is there any one who can tell me if they know of any good deals? I want to update my collection.

Yes, I love all things star trek but I didn't have the cable. so i set about buying all the dvd sets. I got deals on ebay and amazon. On ebay, of course, its an auction. On amazon, after you enter what you are looking for - choose a product and choose "used and new" you'd be surprised how cheap you can find the different seasons

Or head in to your local Pawnshops.. I've sold seasons for 15 or 20 bucks. Course I took my own sets home first. Sorry, I don't have any for sale at this time.
