“Beware of Rocket Launchers”

11.30.07

USS Agincourt NCC-81762

“Beware of Rocket Launchers”

Callack sat down on the bio bed that the nurse pointed to. He wasn't in the best of conditions right now. More importantly, he was doing his best to hide the pain. The nurse approached him with a hypo. "This will help with the pain." She used it on him and then went to get more equipment.

Lt. Commander JoNs quietly entered the sickbay; once the preliminary report regarding her men visiting sickbay had been received on her data padd, she headed down to the medical area. Schooling her feline features from amused to neutral, she gracefully approached the bio bed that Nimetti currently sat on.

Callack saw his chief as she neared the bed. Wincing in pain, he did his best to give her a salute, but his arm didn't want to cooperate.

"Lieutenant. You and Black-Knight have a rough day at the office?" Her purred voice came out deadpan.

"Rough doesn't start to describe it." Looking at his arm, he continued, "Some war targs, giant Klingons and rocket launchers. You know, the usual."

Kansas crossed her arms over her chest and leaned a hip against the vacant bio bed next to the one that Nimetti occupied, her tail swishing idly. "You were the one that sent me the video feed of your little holo program in the first place Dee Jay; I just spiced it up with some interesting side missions." She grinned lopsidedly at her officer. "If you can't handle it, then don’t advertise."

Callack clenched his fist when the nurse grabbed his torn arm. "Didn't say I couldn't handle it ma'am. Was just a little shocked at the second and third waves of Klingons at the end there." Callack grinned as he continued, "it gives it a more challenging twist to the program. Besides, it's Klingons."

"I wouldn't have pulled what I did if it hadn’t been you and Elvis - I knew you'd both do fine. Sorry about the arm though - those holo safeties can be really selective at what they protect."

"Especially if they are set to only prevent fatalities." The young lieutenant gave the nurse an evil look that he knew she got the meaning of. "Besides, it was fun. Plus, that was a squad training program, and I decided to use it for sniping, and Elvis got to blow things up." Callack gave a big smile, hiding how bad he was really hurting from the Caitian.

The feline easily picked up on his body language, what with the years of security training drilled into officers in order to pick up tells and such. "Take some time off tomorrow, give yourself and any injuries some chance to heal and settle. Now, I hate to bring business up, but we have some to deal with."

"Yes ma'am." Callack eyed his arm when the nurse finished. "What's the business?"

"You're aware that we are starting to gear up plans to grab some Soltan tech to get us home?"

"I've heard the rumors."

"Elvis is spearheading a program to train the Dingo squad in a hybrid marine and security type setting. If that goes well, all our squads will receive the new training. I'd like you to handle the weapons end of it. Work with Chief Esteban and upgrade our weapons and riot equipment as best you can. I want to be ready for anything in case we need to back up the ground pounders."

Callack thought for a moment. "How do you want the weapons upgraded? And I've already gave Elvis access to my training programs."

"If possible? Light to medium grade weapons but with a heck of a punch. I want our people to be able to move fast, like scouts, but have the necessary firepower if needed. Same for the riot gear - light to medium grade protection."

"Ah, so you saw me do to my rifle?"

"I've always been an admirer of a good quality sniper rifle Nimetti. Aye, that would be what I am looking for."

"I think Esteban and I can get them done in a couple of days. As for the gear, I've never messed with armor. However I'm sure I can be creative with that."

Kansas wiped a paw wearily across her muzzle; she was still stiff, but thank the gods that whatever energy healing that Shadow had done to her side had worked. She could move a bit more comfortably now. "Good, see to it as soon as you are able. I meant what I said - get some bunk time."

Callack nodded, "Yes ma'am. I'll start on the upgrades first thing in the morning."

"Good. I’ll touch base with you later regarding the upgrades." JoNs nodded, and then began to make her way to the sickbay entrance. Once she reached the doorway, she turned and regarded

Nimetti. "Oh, and Lieutenant?"

Callack looked up at the Caitian. "Ma'am?"

A downright evil mischievous smile exposed her fangs. "Watch out for those Klingons with the rocket launchers."

Callack laughed, "Yes ma'am. I'll try and do that."
