Lo'Ami accesses the computer from sickbay, his second pattern spikes slightly while he checks the locations of some officers.

 

The bridge officers visit Lo'Ami in sickbay. Lo'Ami opines that the cold start is too dangerous to try without more information, especially in nonlinear space. They come up with a plan to map the void's nonlinearities by releasing probes on automatic control, and expanding the ship's shields in a regular pattern. The places where the shield modulation is detected by the probes indicates where the space maps to.
