Computer begin log:....Beep...Recording..

 

The remaining crew of the Chimera had just returned. I was instructed to return to MENG ,And begin assisting with the repairs to the ship from our last encounter with the crystal ship. I had spoken briefly with Lt.Cmdr. Faldek while enroute in the lift. As we headed for the engineering section I was informed I would be meeting my Chief of engineering a Mr. Garnoopy.

 

We entered and were immediately approached by the chief. His reputation preceded him as Faldek related it briefly . I found him to be a really rational,calm,intuitive person. I had expected a strict hard nosed individual with a gigantic ego to preserve. Imagine my pleasant surprise when he was found to be down to earth and definitely intelligent, All the marks of a truly excellent engineer. Working with he and Faldek we began what we had at first believed was going to be an extensive repair job.

 

The Admiral apparently was pressing the repair teams to get us back to at least some semblance of operational status to possibly mount another rescue attempt. All the teams were working at a fevered rate, I had finally been able to get into the area of the sim program where the spike /power limiters were encoded when the entire main core of the computer went awry.

 

Both the chief,and Faldek determined to shut down and reboot the system cold. I had been monitoring the data stream flow on my console when it was made extremely clear the system would not broach any kind of intrusion. That in itself started to confirm my previous theory we may have either a sabotaged data program,Or possibly the new and never before encountered life form.

 

I know Chief Garnoopy and Lt.Cmdr. Looked at me like I had just lost my mind under the pressure we had all been working under. I know it is hard to accept this possibility as a fact, However the data did demonstrate the existence of an unknown source in the data and computer core,possibly originating from our own gel packs. I continued to monitor as much as I could of the data as system by system was restored at a highly acelerated rate, literally restored at a rate much faster then mere flesh and blood had the capacity to do so.

 

Well the proof was there staring us straight in the eye. All damaged systems confirmed at fully operational status. There is no system given present state of technological levels that could have performed the way it did. The data finally confirmed my theory we are not alone, The repairs and restorations done, The system access was restored to the previous presets. The life form for lack of a better term does not appear to be hostile in intent. I now wonder if there is a tie with our crystal ship entity and the area of phased space it originates from may be right at our finger tips.

 

As for the conjecture on the theory of the life form, A phrase comes to mind from my Latin teachings...Ecce Signum, Behold the proof..Computer: End Log.
