Feelings

Kat stepped outside of sickbay and thought for a moment. She knew it was late but she also knew Angel wanted to know how she was after getting her arm looked over. She had promised him she would let him know and since she knew that he wasn't the happiest with her at the moment, she had better do it right away. She taps her badge hoping she wasn't going to catch him asleep. "Schawnsee to Angel"

 

Hearing the chirp, Angel had been deep in thought, He tapped his comm badge, "Angel here Little one, Go ahead." He patiently awaited her reply.

 

"Angel, You wanted to know when I was checked over by the doc. Well I just left her in sickbay. I have to take it easy with my arm for a few days but nothing major." she smiled to herself that this was one time she had gotten back to him before he had contacted her.

 

"Schawnsee meet me at the holodeck as soon as possible." There was a sense of urgency in his tone. "I have something of importance to discuss with you, Angel out," Cutting his comm he headed for the door.

 

"Tonight? cant it wait until tomorrow?" She heard his voice and was hoping he was just tired.

 

Angel listened, but keyed no response. He knew her natural curiousty would not let her refrain from the request.

 

Not getting a response, she figured he was still upset at her. "I better get this over with now, He's mad enough at me as it is. I really dont want to make it any worse." She steps into the TL. "Holodeck." Once the lift stops at its destination she steps out looking at her arm once more. "Oh well here it goes. I guess he's inside already," she says as she looking around. She then moves up to the holodeck and gains enterance. "Hello? Angel?" She looks around wondering where he is.

 

Angel stepped from the opposite side of the Holodeck. Looking at Schawnsee and noting she had done as promised . He looked at her hair color, And her eyes, He was pleased. Approaching her, he smiled his big smile. *Thank you little one for coming so late here*, he thought to her. Then he spoke, "Computer begin program Angel#1 please."

 

"The tone in your voice told me I had better if I knew what was good for me." Kat watched as the holodeck changed around her. "Are you still upset at me?"

 

Watching as the room took on their small piece of heaven back on Risa, Angel turned and spoke softly to her, "No litle one I am not upset at you.

to the contrary, I am very pleased to see you doing so well. How is the arm?? "

 

"Dr Matthews fixed it up for me. I have to go easy with it for a few days but It will be fine." Kat looks around. "Your not upset? Does this mean your not reporting my actions back to the Tribe's Elders? Is this Risa? " She hadn't even given him time to answer the first of her questions before asking the second.

 

Shaking his head and smiling, "Your exuberant lack of patience is still intact I see. Yes we are back on Risa, At our favorite spot again" He says as hes pointing at the Dolphins as they frolicked in the surf. "Here sit by me," taking a seat on the towel with the basket of food and beverages and

making a spot for her , he patted the place next to him.

 

Kat smiled as she saw the dolphins breaking the top of the water. She then looked to where Angel was indicating, and sat next to him with her knees bent and her arms wrapped around them. "Angel? It's so good to be back on the Reaent. I didn't think I would miss her as much as I did while we were gone."

 

"I agree, It is even more so having you here by me, back home back home again." He hesitated for a moment, "Your next question on the report to the Elders, I have filed one. I have recieved their collective reply." He looked intently at her.

 

Kat took a deep breath and let it out slowly. She continued to look out over the surf. "I made it home safe. You didn't have to tell the Elders." She figured that she was in trouble and making him wait to tell her only delayed the inevitable. She takes another deep breath. " What did they say?"

 

Angel reflecting on the series of events both in the distant past, as well as those most recent. "Little one we have been through much. Do you remember our childhood, and the other parts of our tapestry we have seen woven together?? Have you reflected on the past and considered the future??"

 

"I have thought about the past yes. As well as the future, But Angel I have to continue with what I am doing. I can not leave Star Fleet. If the Creator wanted me to something else then why was I allowed to return."

 

He looked at the visage of puzzlment on her small face and chuckled softly to himself, "Well my litlte one, no one said you had to leave the Fleet number one. You had protection you were unaware of. Please understand me now." He placed her small hand in his. "I have spent the majority of my life doing as I have sworn. I have been a protector, Teacher, and many other things with you. I did report to the Elders, and professed my feelings on the matter."

 

She looks to her hand in his and then to his face. "What was their reply?"

 

Taking a deep breath he say, "They stated I must first ask you, and if you agree, they give their total blessing. I am now asking you to become my wife.

 

Kats mouth gaped open. This was nothing of what she had expected. She thought for a moment and figured she misheard him. "They said what? Did I hear you right?"

 

Looking in her eyes, Angel gently took her in his arms and kissed her gently. *Yes my Love,my little one you heard me right* He again does the no speak to her and thens returns to normal speaking, "The Elders as well as your family and mine give their blessings." he says with a smiling and his eyes sparkling.

 

She looked to his face still shocked at the question. They had been friends for as long as she could remember. They were both of the same tribe true but she had no clue he had ever looked at her in any other way than just a friend. "I ... I don't know what to say." she looked away again and back out over the surf. "We have been friends for so long, I ...I.." she just stopped there.

 

Placing a gentle hand on her shoulder and turning her again to look into his eyes, "I can think of no better basis for a wife and husband to be than friends. I had not intended this to happen. You have been like a little sister to me all our life. Well it appears my sister has grown into a woman, a friend to whom I have fallen in love with. I can no longer just look at you the way I did in our youth. No I cannot look at you the way I have in the past. I now look at you as my mate. As for words, No words are necessary. I humbly ask you to be my mate, for better or worse, Again the tapestry weaves another part of our lives together.

 

Kat sits there thinking. This was a total shock to her. With her new postition as CSEC, she knew she would be going on more Away teams. If she went on another mission as she did this time how would he react. She knew he had been very upset with her this time. She could not just remain on the ship because he thought it was to dangerous for her to go. StarFleet was a dangerous job and she knew what she was getting into when she joined up. She also didn't expect someone to be sent to keep an eye on her. Question was, Would he be able to handle her working in her new post? Would he be the old Mother hen and not allow her to do her job?

 

Sensing her thoughts he speaks up, "I understand our duties and oaths little one, I understand as well we both have very dangerous jobs in the Fleet. I would rather we spend as much time together and understand and share our love, Than live one short day without it. I was upset with you for one your impetious nature. Secondly I did not know if I would be given the opportunity to tell you of my feelings for you. I will not stand in the way of your duty, I only ask for as much time with you as we have on this plane of life. The time to share our life, and love with the time we have remaining.

 

 

She turned her head back looking him in the face once more. She had forgotten about the no speaking talk, and his ability to use it. A lot better than she could. She could feel he was sincere about what he was saying. "Angel? Fleet is no place to raise a family. Not on a vessle as this. Look around us. Look whats happened to us in the just the past 48 hours. I can not put a child through the trials of not knowing whether they are going to come home from school to see only one parent after a dangerous mission or if only to find the Captain waiting for them to tell them that we are both gone." She searched his eyes for the answer.

 

Angel looked deep into Schawnsee's eyes. "My little one , even more the reason for us. The past 48 hours cry out the same. Life is way to short to not share your life with another. The comment on the children, Well there are other children in other places that have and hear similar news. The only difference being they may or may not be on this ship. There are both powers cosmic, and spiritual that determine our destiny. The very same ones that have brought you safely home to me. The very same powers that have afforded us this rare chance for happiness. No matter what the length of time they have afforded, we must accept this precious gift that has been given.

 

Kat looks to their intwind hands for a moment and back to his face. She takes a deep breath. "Angel I believe my Father would be happy, and you said the Elders of the tribe have sent their belssings." She pauses for a moment before speaking again. " Angel? I think I have to say...."
