God has a sense of humor

Personal Log: Hilee,Richard,B., Ens. Asst.Engineer Warp Theory

"God Has a Sense Of Humor":

Computer begin recording: Bleep...

The shuttle ride to the U.S.S. Manticore was uneventful overall. The time enroute to the ship afforded me the time to catch up on some interesting new warp tech. research. I had gotten up to speed and had double checked my personal gear, orders to report for duty.

The latest issue of the advanced warp design tech.manual was exciting, To say the least I had been looking forward to this assignment.

I remember the hushed laughter from my peers as they learned of my new assignment. Jormel a person I considered a close friend even asked whom I had ticked off to garner this post aboard the "Tug Boat". I did of course in the best tradition of my ancestors and as a good officer representing the Fleet proceed to get him drunk, And get him to start a fight. I did manage to ease out of the bar unscathed for the most part, Jormel on the other hand dinna fare so well. That should show him to respect another engineers ship, No matter what type it may be.

Looking out of the forward window of the shuttle I watched and listened to the pilot hail the Manticore and advise of our cargo and intent. I was anxious with anticipation gear in hand and expectant I went to the rear of the shuttle waiting ...feeling the ever so light bump of the shuttle as the pilot slipped her into the docking port. I listend intentley at the auto cycle as it equalised the pressure.

The door whispered open I fully expected to be met by some kind of security host, As is standard Star Fleet procedure. I stepped out into the receiving area of the deck still looking for some kind of security, Still none noted. I turned and queried the pilot and crew as they set about placing the additionial cargo on an anti-grav unit. The only responce I received was a shrug, As well as our jobs done here as they completed the code scan of the cargo.

Looking about like a new cadet at a high brass function I walked to an LCARdisplay and searched for the nearest TL. I gathered my gear and made for the location of the lift . Entered the lift and stated the desired deck.."Bridge". It is normal custom to be taken to the section you are assigned to and check in and report for duty. This was a bit new to me. The "music" in the lift was a delightful change, I listened to it as the sounds from the lift made the normal "Swooshing" sound as it went from junction to junction, Deck to deck.

The doors opened and the bridge came into view,Standing there for a moment I began to look for the Operations or the XO's station . I had just stepped out and was intent on moving to the XO to report when the words "Admiral on deck" were issued. I dropped my gear and immediately came to attention, A security Cmdr. passed me and entered the TL with only a chuckle as she passed and entered the TL.

I observed as the Admiral set right into business...That was my que to proceed. I set my gear to the side with the exception of my orders in hand and proceeded to the XO's chair. The Xo greeted me and was very polite given my abrupt showing on the bridge. That was not standard protocol with the exception I am new here and with no guide or escort to lead me to my section I think he fully understood my situation. I was given the necessary directions to Main Engineering and whom to report to. The XO did greet me and welcomed me aboard. I did take note that apparently the ship and crew had been in some kind of simulation that had apparently gone very badly.

I hurried to the TL grabbing my gear and entered the lift. While enroute the ship wide speakers ushered forth a directive from the Admiral. What in the name of the saints was going on?. I pondered this as the Tl doors swishwed open, I walked down the corridor towards Main Engineering, Pausing for a moment to make sure my uniform was straight, Looking in bristol fashion, one does not report for duty looking like some kind of Ragga Muffin me sweet little ol granny was known to say.

I watched as the doors opened, I stepped into what was to be my home now, Looking around the large section taking in the subtle beauty of her. I noted a solitary figure turn and looked dead at me. Placing my gear on the deck I proceeded to his location, This was Lt.Commander Tovan I presume, The officer to set me on my duties and routine on this quite interesting "Tug Boat" from what I have observed...God does have a grand sense of humor, And the jokes on my fellows back on the Star Base I left.... End Log: Beep.
