Getting Settled In

Personal Log

Ensign Siegfried Kas, Assistant Engineering Officer.

October 7, 2157

What a view!!! I got to go by the aft observation room above the Stage 2 Plasma Accelerator, and had a chance to go in and look around. I could see all of the damage to the station from the fires from there, and, well, just sit for a minute a look around. Even though I've spent most of my life on a freighter, you don't see much at Warp. And they don't put observation rooms on freighters! Even compared to the view when I'm in an EVA suit, the view is just, simply, incredible.

I'm getting used to the other crewmembers and officers, I just hope they are getting used to me. I busted up my elbow pretty good in some storm we had, and at least got to meet some of the medical staff. I don't know what action we're headed into soon, and I'm sure going to miss talking to my old girl friends…and what a waste the observation room is going to be without them.

I haven't had a chance to meet the Chief Engineer, or many of the other officers. The other crew in engineering seems indifferent and just vague about Lietenant Commander Aaron Westler, the CENG and my fellow AENG Ensign GallusKek Th'Gos, a Andorian. I wonder when I'll get a schedule for duty, other than just responding to all of the alerts we've had lately.

I guess my leadership style has yet to establish many connections with the enlisted engineering crew, at least they call me sir. It's probably because of how old I am, or because I used to be enlisted too. Well, I'm going to go to the mess hall, and see if anyone is around to share a bit to eat with. Hopefully, they have a good cup of coffee around. After that, maybe someone will take me up to the bridge for a tour up there, if they aren't too busy. Or maybe I'll check out my target rifle and get in some practice in the armory. I hope they'll allow me to fire this old antique.
