LOL - One night before a QoB~Lakota sim we were arguing about the new X-Men movie.  I guess those who were into the comic book liked X2 better than X1, but I didn't.  Anyway the topic turned to comic book addictions.  I said I was never into comic books, even as a kid.

Well it's no secret that Canadians in the health care industry (doctors, nurses, paramedics) come to the United States to have their health care needs met.  Socialized medicine just doesn't work!  (I actually did my undergraduate thesis on this subject.  Unfortunately that was 2 hard drives ago so please don't ask me for copies.  I no longer have them)

Something like 30 universities teach Klingon as a foreign language for credit now. (Probably more but that used to be the number)

 

And now Harvard Business School has classes on the Ferengi Laws of Aquisition.

 

All of it has to pay more than the State of CA... who will be paying state employees minimum wage starting July 1 if the budget doesn't pass. Except elected officials who will of course continue with their overpaid salary....

The problem the California economy has now is that our tax rates are among the highest in the nation, especially for businesses.  This is forcing businesses to leave the state at a time when we desperately need them to rebuild our economy.  The Davis budget will raise payroll and sales taxes (He admits it.) and force even more companies and citizens to relocate to where state taxes aren't so high.  This will only serve to further erode the tax base and, as a result, the state will actually receive LESS in tax revenues with a tax increase!   :mad:
