My 1st week...

This is almost the end of my first week doing any kind of SIM......and I love it! It's lots of fun and I believe I am already an addict, although I have only been to 3 Academy sessions. It's great to find a group of people so diverse, yet connected for the love of Trek!

STSF is a great place. I started here almost 5 years ago as a newbie to simming. I was on StarTrek.com and stumbled in here.

I have to tell you, that once you graduate from the academy and settle into an Advanced Sim or two, you won't find yourself quite as addicted.

But I feel like I've grown as a person since stumbling over here, and so has Lt. Cdr. Smith.

He's gone from a hard nosed Ensign in the Reaent Medical Department to an even more hard-nosed Lieutenant Commander and Chief of Science and sometimes even getting to spend a little time in the command chair.

Hope you have a career that's just as sucessful.

Ummm....he forgot to mention the part about the "hard nosed Ensign" telling the CO he needed a shrink. ::shakes head sadly:: Not a good idea, Cadet Pace.....especially in the Academy.

<<Sorry Brian....we warned you we would NEVER let you forget. >>

Gee, I don't know. The advanced sims can be just as addictive and you can keep coming to the Academy sims even after you graduate!

This place is highly addictive. I used to come to the academy every night, go to Red Star every week, and go to Republic every week. Any night there were two academies, I'd go to both...until I joined Agincourt which coincides with a Wednesday academy.

Unfortunately, only a few weeks after I joined the Ag, I shipped out to basic training.

Now, because of my schedule, it's hard to get into sims but I could join Agincourt again if I wanted to. :)

Yaaay! So what do I do to participate? I really don't like sounding like such a newbie. This is the first forum I've ever really joined besides thedarktower.net and they aren't doing well financially so I'm trying to broaden my horizons and get attached to a new group of people   That's sad and happy news at the same time.

I didn't know if I was supposed to open up a new thread in this forum and announce my newcoming or what.... And I don't know about this application process or anything like that. Please assist a newbie.

No, you don't have to have your own thread to introduce yourself, nor do you need to apply, just come to an academy and play!

Check out the Help section and the Rules area. Also, there is a nice area of Tips from the Moose that can be helpful. Finally, just check out the Schedule, find an Academy that works for your real life schedule and come a few minutes early to get a post and play!

(Hmm, I keep saying "play," don't I?)

As I recall, the same thing happened to me about . . . oh, I won't say how many years ago.

Welcome aboard, Pace! May your stay be long and prosperous.

Funny that Jami should appear here.

I still remember when I graduated. But I think the story is already on the boards somewhere.

Hey there,

Four score and over a decade ago....you would find a player named Fred on a game called Odyssey or Hood that was such a noobie, it wasn't even funny. Couldn't write a log, could barely follow what was going on....

Don't worry about those things! Worry about having a good time and the rest will come. It always does.

Hello newbies and vets. Welcome to newbies, good to see the vets.

I just want to comment on something in the original post to this topic. The fact that we are all crazy diverse people who come together and love trek! woooo! it's so true. I love all these guys/gals who I sim with.

These days, online groups and contact can be a pretty sketch deal, but here is one group of people who truly treat each other respectfully....and are just here to PLAY!

I know this is kind of a random sentimental commentary to make (and oh dear look at the time) but It just struck me what "Pace" had to say up there and I wanted to voice my agreement. Kudos to the STSF community for being just that, a great community.

-Sam
