Boredom. That’s the worst thing about being confined to Sickbay. I try to walk around the facility, stay out of the way of the medical staff, as they go about their appointed rounds. But, I can’t do my katas, I technically can’t leave Sickbay, since I’m still recovering from my stupidity. Why the hell didn’t I cut the leads into the booby trap? Operator headspace and timing, my platoon leader from T’Krit would tell me. I was in a rush, and got sloppy. Things are more clear-cut in combat, be it on a foot patrol in an insurgent-prone residential block, or in the inky blackness of deep space where no one can hear you scream if you get vaped.

CSM Jackson stuck his head in a couple of hours ago, and between berating me for being a complete and utter moron for almost blowing myself up, while maintaining that healthy respect rank does have, and giving me the battalion’s condolences for getting injured, he brought me up to speed on what’s been happening outside my little room in the Sickbay.

Of course, I make a break for it, and get beamed back into Sickbay. Damnable internal sensors. Of course, Avery chews me out for escaping. As he’s discharging me from Sickbay. He says light duty. I say “Yeah, sure.” Hell, I’ve had boulders thrown at me during my martial arts training. No one ever said Genma was the brightest bulb in the box when it comes to his training methods.

I head down to the Security office, and start catching up on my paperwork, when all of a sudden my computer access is revoked and my commbadge suddenly doesn’t work. So I head to the nearest lift, and I’m stuck on Deck 25, voice authorization denied, Security command override, and facing a Security team with their phasers trained on me.

So now, I’m back in Security…except as a “guest”. All Petty Officers Kusanagi and Katsuragi tell me is that I’m in protective custody. And that’s all they’re saying. At least I’m not on of the general population cells; the VIP cells are a little more comfortable.

Damnit, my life sucks.
