Mission Brief - 0305.09

SKY HARBOR AEGIS

MISSION BRIEFING

Stardate 0305.09

Problems continue to hamper efforts to make Sky Harbor Aegis seem operational. After a plasma conduit fire in the control access for one of the station's auxiliary fusion reactors ignited, efforts to solve the problem took longer than anticipated.

The source of the problem seems to stem from the power transfer which took place between Aegis and the Pandora's Box. Without a computer to regulate the power grid, nor tell hardware how to properly manage power, power ran uncontrolled through the station. The result was an increasing series of feedbacks causing plasma conduit fires on Deck 10, the Midway and in the reactor control room.

To solve the problem, it was decided more power needed to be consumed. While this was a sort term solution, it would prevent power from cascading around the power grid endlessly and causing overloading. With the list of systems which can be managed completely on manual minuscule, efforts to use up power took longer than anticipated.

Eventually, two ideas were raised. The dorsal phaser array was manually operated and the grid charged, causing a serious drain on the limited battery power aboard Aegis. In addition, efforts are currently underway to try to restore some of the station's fire suppression system. Though computer use is needed, it is hoped basic files from the Pandora's Box may be able to copied into the station's computer core to provide some way to end the fires currently raging on Deck 10 and on the Midway.

At present, the station's ability to use sensors remains extremely limited. However, it seems the alien intruders within the Cardassian system have not detected or do not care about work currently taking place on Aegis. The location of the Cardassian vessel which brought Captain Sorehl aboard remains unknown.
