"Another day in confinement"

A log by Lietenant (jg) Callack Nimetti (JoNs's little Dragon Rider)

The lights came on bright as the cronometer clicked over to the designated time. Country music began playing, its volume continuously increasing until it was deactivated by the young man coming out of his sonic shower. The young man walked over to his desk and activated his computer console. After confirming the console was on and he found the program he was looking for, the young man went to a drawer and opened it. After pulling out his outfit, the young man got dressed and looked into the mirror. Running two fingers across his scar, he winced. It still hurt after all the surgurey and recovery time. After thinking about the scar and taking his mind away from the bad memories, he looked at the tw o pips on both sides of the collar of the uniform. One was a bright gold finish while the othe had matte black finish in the center surrounded by a gold ring. These were the designation for the rank of Lieutenant Junior Grade, and Callack was quite surprised that he hadn't been busted down to Ensign again.

Callack new that what he did was against regulations. He knew his full attention was supposed to be on the away team. What had gotten over him? What would make him fail to do his duties to the fullest and act like a...how did his chief put it?...a "moonlighting dj?" When it came to bridge duty, the young Lieutenant (JG) had always put full attention towards the post and usually didn't shy away from that. Granted, he did send messages to Kansas, but there hadn't been an away team dispatched at the time.

Callack sat down at his console, and opened a blank message screen. He began typing an apology letter to his Chief, expressing his deep sorrow for what he had done. He continued the letter, stating that he knew that he had lost her trust and while being the most senior assistant security officer she had, he should have been more wary of his condition and shown Master Chief Keltex how to operate the system so that he could sleep.

He continued to write the apology for another 30 mins or so, writing, deleting and writing different lines. When he was finished, the message was about 2 pages. He knew that the apology wasn't gonna do anything to redeem himself, but he felt he needed to do it anyway. He then sent the message to Kansas, signing it "Your Dragon Master, Nimetti." He hoped that she would find that amusing, and no be completely upset by the message.

Well, now what am i gonna do? Callack had been thinking of everything he could do, going over inventories, noticing weapons that needed repair, and what not. Hell, h e even sat and wrote a training program that would make the marines cringe. Too much time to think and too much time to do nothing. At that, he went back to working on the 2 personal phasers that he had been working on.
