Moving In

Kairi slowly entered main engineering. It was pretty quiet at the moment. They were in the middle of gamma shift. In her arms was a small box with various contents. The newly appointed chief made her way through the room and to a set of doors, her new office.

 

Entering, Kairi looked around. Javin’s personal affects had already been moved, which was probably a good thing in her mind. It was hard enough that she was moving in, but it would have been tougher to have to go through his personal things. Setting the box on desk, she began to unpack. The box contained a couple pictures, one of which was of her and Javin. At the bottom of the box were a few PADDs she brought from her room, mostly containing projects she was working on.

 

With everything now scattered on the desk, Kairi took a seat. How did she come to this point? She had always wanted to become chief engineer of a starship, but the circumstances of her promotion made her sad. It seemed recently that the only way to get a promotion on the Agincourt was to endure a loss. Loss of a captain, an entire ship, a mentor, a rival, a lover…

 

Kairi thought on this for a while until she couldn’t think anymore. She simply laid her head on the desk and drifted off to sleep.
