Welcome to STSF Hadrian. Remember to check our Schedule for the times when our Academies are running, it is also good to review our Help section as well. Good Luck and See You In Space!

There are 11 posts you can play at the Academy: OPS, TAC, HELM, CENG, AENG, CSCI, ASCI, CSEC, ASEC, CMO, AMO. If you try all 11 permutations, you'll never get frustrated or bored trying to graduate and you may even find a hidden talent.

One nitpick on the above. When you ask for a post from the host, you will be asked for two choices. You can ask for the bridge posts (Helm, Operations or Tactical) individually, but you'd ask for Engineering, Science, Security or Medical as a department. Generally, the first person to ask for a given department will be chief, (CSEC would be chief of security) and any others in that department will be assistants (AMO would be Assistant Medical Officer). Thus, Joy usually asks for Operations or Science. She would generally get OPS,CSCI or ASCI.

Most academies, enough people will be around to man the bridge and have a chief for most departments. Some nights we have lots of people show up, and there are one or two assistants in each department.

One bit of advice that Moose might have missed -- he didn't miss a lot -- is to watch the mood and tone set by the hosts. Some hosts on some nights will be chatty and humorous, in which case one might well follow suit. On other nights other hosts might be presenting the players with a difficult mission, in which case it is a good idea cut the jokes and the idle chat and focus on the problem or plot being presented. If the plot or problem requires beaming down to a planet, for example, and the cadets don't manage to get to the transporter room until 45 minutes past the hour, the host's temper (and sometimes the ship's warp core) are apt to explode. On rare nights, the host might shift from Star Trek science fiction themes to horror movie slasher mode. In which case, the idea is to kill all the cadets in a memorable way.

It's a bit tricky at times figuring out what the hosts are looking for on a given night. What worked well one night might well be wrong the night after. Be ready to adjust one's style a bit, depending on how the night's run is going.

See you about!

Hello Everyone!

I'm also new here. I registered a little too late to attend the Saturday night Academy so I'll have to try again another time. I've read all of the posts addressed to Cadet Gallant and found them very helpful.

I'm really looking forward to seeing you all in the Academy. (Hope I can handle it! )

Well, you missed the vicious attack by the killer rabbit, the beaming down of the highly specialized HHGOA device, and an important reading on the Number of the Counting being Three...

I'm sure you can handle it. Sure, things will seem confusing at first, but just have fun and go with the flow...

Welcome aboard!

Oh, you would have loved it! It was great fun! Wish you could have been there!! I had a blast! Heehee!

Little side note, that was my best Halloween costume ever. I had a white rabbit attached to my neck and blood dripping from it. Had many people in school ask me what it meant, but a few got it! ;)
