"The Something on the Floor"

There was something on the floor.

Tro'NoQ noticed it as he finished his console repair. It was an odd, round, not quite cylindrical shape, and a very strange color that he'd only seen in such intensity in houses of ill repute...

Bending to pick it up, he regarded it curiously. Licking it, he instantly felt a need to gagh, or guzzle down war'noQ to erase the foul taste.

He noticed something then. Something in the wall right where it had lain -- a small, half-meter by half-meter swirling eddy in the space-time continuum. Something rare and awe-inspiring... certainly worthy of Science's study!

Tro grunted, and was about to throw the horrifically ugly and bad-tasting disk in the waste repository, when something hit him as he closed his hand around the disgusting food.

A happy, light, airy feeling of happiness and joy and fun! One color pervaded his thoughts, and suddenly he felt ill from many maladies. But still... the Bch sisters loved him, and he loved them, and Van Roy was quiet... oh so quiet...

He snapped out of it with a growl. What was that thing? The near hallucination it caused should not have been familiar... and yet it was.

Troubled, Tro'NoQ threw it away, and shoved a crate against the continuum disturbance. There. That would keep such things from entering his MRF again!
