ShoreLeave West - 2008

We just get home and we're already talking about NEXT YEAR?

Yes!!

Fifteen forum members attended this years fete and we (as always) had a blast. The convention was a great place to talk up STSF and meet new nerds! Dinners, the Cabana, the costumes (some were incredible, some made me throw up a little in my mouth ... aka Alice in Wonderland -- ICK)

Anyway, the convention is a perfect backdrop to our annual summer gathering. It gives the N00bs an excuse to head West (other than to just meet us) and it gives us veterans something to do other than sit in the designated suite and drink wine. Okay we still do that, but some of us like to get autographs too (The Gorn rocks)

So, in anticipation of next year, here is the kick off date:

Wednesday - Sunday AUGUST 6-10, 2008 at the Las Vegas Hilton

an extra day of nerds next year

Creation Entertainment

315 days away.

Kansas, you have done all that was asked and required of you to pass multiple initiation rites. You are hereby absolved of n00b status. But you still need to wear the shirt now and then. ;)

I'm am looking forward to Nerdfest '08, but I think we need to give a9 at least four months to recover from the booth before thinking of doing one (the booth, not the 'fest - we'll definitely do the fest) again. (Though we *do* have the banner and shirts now... and magnets.)

(btw, i have a rl friend who will not believe all the elements of my Ultimate Cabana Moment (specifically the pool-boy mister), so if ANYone happened to snap a pic... please oh please send it to me!)

I was just checking the convention prices, and did I click on the right link because it was $689.00!!

Please tell me that is something else like dinner with Picard or something...

That's for the more expensive package. General admission and single-day tickets are considerably cheaper, and will be on sale later.

That would be the "Gold Package" - it is the most expensive of the packages offered, and decidedly not worth it unless you plan on spending every single minute of every day at the convention. For this past ShoreLeave, I opted for the package below the Gold, the "Captains Chair". It was good to try it out, but I won't be going with the Chair package again.

As Sarvek mentioned, General and Single are more economic. Even the packages below the Captains Chair (various Weekend packages) are the better bet.
