Travis Kroells

Faith...or something like it

“Faith…or something like it”…Kroells’s logs

Travis inwardly sighed.  After flying a good ten minutes to new Rigel, putting the entire ship in peril of ripping apart along the way finally arrived.  The speed the Reaent was flying at caused the need for an emergency drop from speeds of roughly warp 9.8 which is pushing the old ambassador class to the limits.  The warp drop went better then Travis expected, with a ship this old he figured one half of the ship would stop and the other half would just keep flying along.  Despite Travis’s predictions the ship stopped as one, unfortunately the old girl didn’t have the inertial dampeners to handle all the stop and sent most of the unprepared, including Travis flying several feet from there original position.

And this is where we find Travis, lying on the floor several feet away from Spencer and the science console that he had been working at several minutes before.  Travis rubbed his temples from the headache he had.  Not from the abrupt stop, but from something else.  He started feeling it in the science lab while working with Spencer on possibilities on the cause of the Cairo accident.  Had Travis had longer to work in the usually empty science lab he probably would have excused him self to go to sickbay.  However the cards aren’t always dealt to your favor and so Travis lies on the floor contemplating what’ll happen next.

For what seemed like forever Travis eventually got up, some what assisted by Spencer.  While he appreciated the help Travis shuttered to think what would happen if Garnoopy had been looking that way.  Spencer was a nice guy and deserved to go far in Starfleet but Travis thought that he tried a little too hard.  While going as hard as you can is good and all knowing your own limitations is probably better.

Travis sat down looking at the sensor readings.  Despite Fred’s best effort to get the ship destroyed by getting us here in record time the mysterious ship that entered the system about 7 minutes ago was already gone.  Frustrated he began to rapidly run through different scans looking for the ship.  If there was one thing to Travis’s name it was that he could find any thing he wanted to.  As long as that ship was in sensor range he would find it.  As the Reaent entered orbit inspiration hit Travis like a hammer on your foot.  He quickly began to scan the surface looking for any sign of the ship he looked to Spencer for the possibility of the ship landing on the planet.  Travis figured that since this ship could obviously not be the Cairo it had to at least look like an Intrepid class on the outside otherwise the colony scans would detect it right away.

Travis over heard the statement that there was no life signs on the planet.  While interesting in its self Travis had no time for it.  He was determined to find that ship no matter what.  Not long after Lt. Sivuk had Spencer finally sit down and work on something.  Travis wasn’t annoyed at Spencer but rather confused at why he constantly loomed over Travis as if not trusting him to do his own work.  Something inside of Kroells caused him to inwardly chuckle at that and at that same time causing a jolt of pain in his head.  Travis tried to ignore the fact that for the first time in a while he had an emotional response to something, and that it caused him more pain then what was already swelling in his head.  He had an aching question in his head that most likely no one could answer.  “What is happening to me?”  He had a feeling that belief that God or some other being higher then him would save him this time…
