I haven't been around all that long, so I'll go with my very first acad. My brother had talked me into coming to the chatroom at 3am my time. I had planned to watch to see what it's all about, but it seems my brother had been plotting behind my back with the GM and as soon as I entered I got a PM saying "You're ASCI" (or CSCI, I don't actually remember if there was someone else in SCI that night).

That's how it all started for me, determined to tell my brother that I don't think I'd enjoy it and that I certainly wouldn't stay up until 3 or 4 am for this and that he can stop bugging me now. Needless to say I was hooked after the first acad. So I really should thank my brother and the GM that night.

So happy birthday STSF!

Hey Dox, did you just google that picture or did you make it and take a picture of it?

My favorite memory was when I was in one of GromVik's sims, and we were exploring

The Hotal Royale. I hated that episode of TNG but the sim was fun. =P

Ahh yes. Happy Belated Anniversary to STSF! Having been around since May of 2003, I have plenty of memories related to STSF. My favourites of which, are probably the Pandarians. They were fun. (Do a forum search on Pandarians if you don't know who/what they are).

There are SO MANY wonderful memories over the past five years that it is very hard to pick just one. It has been a wild ride and I hope to still be hanging on in 5 more years and 5 after that and after that...

But if I had to pick just one fun memory, it would have to be the AMAZING_WALL_OF_NUDE, one of our early "simmers" when we were still using the StarTrek.com chat rooms for our games.

I spent 3 hours baking that cake, and another 2 carefully applying the icing and the M&MS, and I made the candles from a honey bee comb that I melted down. To light the candles I rubbed two sticks together. I didn't eat the cake afterwards but it was totally worth it for that photo.

Shoulda used two rocks. Probably would have been quicker.

So, anyway:

Happy Anniversary STSF!

My favorite memory? So many to choose from.

I guess one memory would be the day (Nov. 23 2004) I officially "jumped in" and started to actually post on the site and sim; I just got a rush, knowing that this was the site for me, and few weeks later when I was graduated from the academy. A lot of fond memories come from getting together with fellow gamers for joint logs.

Wicked cool site this is.

Hey, I remember that guy. He even showed up for the Reaent 10th Anniversary party!

I have 4 favorite STSF moments, all around seeing the GMs in person.

1) My first Shore Leave. FredM was supposed to pick me up at the airport. We had never seen each other so we didn't know how he would know who I was. I said "Why don't I just hold up a cardboard sign that says 'NERDS' on it at the airport?" He didn't think I was serious.

2) The next year I ran into FredM and A9 at the shop in front of Quarks. They just happened to be playing the scene in The Voyage Home when Kirk is telling that driver "Well, double dumbass on you!"

3) I think it was that same trip. I was taking some flack for wearing a black leather jacket in the middle of the desert. This was when we were going out to dinner somewhere. Well, when we got to the restaurant they had the AC on max, and everyone was in shorts, T-shirts, sundresses, etc. and was cold. One person had to cover herself in napkins to keep warm. I was in my warm leather jacket saying "Gee, you guys look cold. Not so dumb now, huh?"

4) Huff in a bathing suit.

Here's my favorite STSF moment. I was migrated here, darn near under duress. But I didn't really know as much as I thought I did, and although only one person probably knows what I'm talking about (if he remembers), I turned down a kind invitation by someone who was really looking out for the best of everyone. So I suppose my favorite STSF moment was when I realized just how great this new group was, and what it had accomplished for so many people. After looking at the last 5 years, I'm glad to be back playing here. I thought I'd lost one of my favorite hobbies, but I really hadn't. That's my favorite moment. I hope to be here for your 10th. Thanks for all that you did.

PS: Dumbass, do they still have the Warp Core Breach at Quarks bar?!?

Personally, I'd have to say one of my favorite moments was feeding t'Rexan to the Squids. :)

Wasn't the aftermath of that little coup rather, ahem, rending on your person?

Yes it was!

::Still has those scars::

See, my Mirror Universe CO is way more understanding - she allowed medical to remove *my* scars. :)

Here's to a long run for STSF.

Yes they do. However, they have a new rule about them now. They will only sell them to you if you say you are sharing with someone else. (You don't actually have to share, just say you are.)

I don't remember it anymore, but my favorite moment is probably when as a brand-spanking-new ensign in the medical department, I told Captain Fred that he needed to go see a shrink because he was having problems. He NEVER lets me forget that one.

Or the constant begging for a trip to the bridge.

Now I'm CSCI and I can't get off the damn thing.

On the other hand he didn't deny it either.

Poor Brian....tried to warn you to be careful what you asked for....you might get it. :)

My favorite STSF memory is from five years ago....the very first Reant sim in the trek.com chat room. There were only four or five of us on the roster. When we got into the room, there were already a few people there chatting and trying to role play. At 10:00 pm, Fred started the sim. We were all nervous.....didn't know what was going to happen. We were afraid the folks already in the room would become disruptive or something.

The exact opposite happened. They got very quiet and watched us sim. After dealing with the snerts on AOL, I couldn't believe how easy it was to take command of that room and how interested the "guests" were. I think some of those who watched that night probably went on to join STSF.

Another favorite memory is the night a very green ensign named Smith told the Reaent's CO (FredM) he needed a shrink. And no, Mr. Smith will NEVER be allowed to forget that one. :o
