STSF Founding

47 posts in this topic

On a completely biased note - after my research stint and when it finally came down to the wire for me to make a decision, I needed to choose between STSF and two other sites who shall remain nameless to protect the children. I'm glad I went with STSF.

Factors in that decision were - structure (chat based sim, fan fiction/logs), the state of the boards (not to much spam, cocky posts are dealt with swiftly), signatures were not annoying (limited), the site was not too small and not too large, the writing (logs) in general rocked, the general attitude to newbies was really nice (the GMs must be slipping :-P), and the academies were fun. And as for the advanced sims - wow. Very professional.

By that do you mean long? Because if so, I can cut it down.

We wouldn't mind. Yours is just about the biggest, in terms of screen footprint, that we like to see. Anything bigger and it turns into a situation where your signature block is bigger than any of your posts and it can bother some people with a slow Internet connection.

Thanks for asking!

I'll get right on it.

Five years? It will be five years on July 31st?

Holy Asteroids! It feels like it's been just than a couple of years. And when will STSF hold a party to celebrate? Maybe when we make it to number ten?

That will be a very cool day!

Congrats to STSF and also to Manticore! Sheesh A9 has it been that long?? And you haven't blown up your black Nebula yet! Gosh, what was the name of the sim that had its ship on letter H or something? Maybe we should start planning for STSFs 10th anniv :)

I have an idea for an anniversary thing for this year

why don't we have a special acad where evryone possible goes to, noone dies, and we all eat cake and run programs on the holodeck on Earth instead of a ship

Now hii that would ruin their carefully planned and fascist games. (that was a joke... a very bad joke.)

I prefer my dictatorial regimes more Authoritarian than Totalitarian.

Totalitarianism, No! Authoritarianism, Si!

Well, I'm sure this can count as a special academy event - starting June 3 the Tuesday 9PM EST acads are bringing back the dreaded Pandarians for a run of chaos and insanity .... I don't think the "not dying' will be included however.

Probably not, but I hear that the barbecue, honey mustard and sweet and sour sauces are.

I didn't see any definitive answer as to whether the Academies or sims were doing anything to mark the six-year anniversary of STSF. This is quite a milestone - even the TOS Enterprise only had a five-year mission.
