Joy 38. Aug 8, 2007. Muon and Blu (as KreRiovtRex). USS Billy Mitchell (Defiant). Patrolling 'somewhere.' Activated training program 'Atragon Vegas 1.' Defiant v Warbird. Warbird released a decoy from cloaked state, and fooled us once, as we unloaded on the wrong target. It used torpedoes to deploy mines, to fool us twice. (Joy's attempts to get CO and Helm to avoid the mine field ignored.) Warbird flies away briefly, then comes back, suddenly becoming a real ship not a training hologram, and blows Mitchell away.

 

Muon opens a two kill lead over NDak, and a doubles the kills of any other host.

Joy 39, Blurox, LoAmi. USS Medusa (Galaxy) Reported to scientific research station to investigate a theft. Rather than equipment being stolen, it turns out their computers were eaten by microbes. Microbes eat Joy.

 

This one felt unusual. Sometimes, the hosts abandon Star Trek, and run horror story look and feel. Sometimes the players don't meet expectations, and the hosts decide to punish the players. Sometimes there seems to be confusion between a problem solving style and a story driven style, and you see hosts and players diverging in two different directions. Sometimes someone is just in a mood for gratuitous violence.

Joy 40. Amnor & Muon. Sept 21, 2007. Billy Mitchell, Defiant class. Sim starts with disabled ship on a crash vector. No one assigned to helm position. Crew members killed, seemingly randomly, after the crash. Three stooges level humor among the hosts...

Joy 41. Dec 7, 2007. USS Arizona. Surprise attack on Earth. Amnor and Spyder hosting, with SGV Laura doing the dirty deed, on the bridge, with a phaser. Nasty Romulans. Never could trust the Romulans.

Joy 42. Dec 12, 2007. USS Pegasus (Nebula Class). Atragon and Dacotah. War games with one Nebula against 3 klingon battle cruisers. One Klingon ship takes damage when a simulated attack causes collision with an asteroid. All three klingon ships charge weapons to full power and attack. Pegasus destroys one before the other two focus fire on the Pegasus's bridge.

 

Joy 42 never did tell anyone the meaning of life, happiness, or the reasons for the universe's existence.

Joy 43. Dec 20, 2007. Hawser & Sundown. USS Clemens (Excelsior) in route to Romulus carrying Federation Ambassador T'lek. Picks up 2 warbird escort. Engines fail, then shields fail, then everything fails. Captain transported clear of ship. (Captain Hawser and a Romulan faction were conspiring to create a war which would be 'good for both powers'.) Sim ends as Romulans storm the ship and self destruct is set. Joy launches message probe describing the situation without permission from XO under the assumption the XO is also a traitor.

Joy 44. Dec 22, 2007. KBear and Muon Quark. USS Tango. Spiral nebula appears in the Romulan neutral zone. Federation and Romulan ships both sent to investigate. They exchange data, but Tac on Tango scans the Romulan without permission. Some tensions. One individual on each ship faints and has dizziness symptoms. At end, nebula turns into smiley face, zaps both ships to take out engines, then destroys both ships saying our species need to learn to cooperate better.

Last week, I gather Colonel Harper lost her hard drive, and a 100 plus string of perfect attendance came to an end. It was an 'awww' moment.

 

This week, I lost a hard drive. Disaster! Horrors! End of the world!

 

Not really. I have a back up. I'll be back, hopefully in time for Aegis tomorrow... But for the moment the entire Joy class is out of action, not to mention Tia and Tay.

 

I shall return!

 

I'm just not sure if this means I should increment to 47...

I was the second one to blow up from sneezing. I once died from radiation, then from an earthquake, then from the slugs. Ahhh. You gotta love the academy.

 

I wonder if Star Trek cast members look into one of these sims just for fun. What do you think Gene Roddenberry, if he was alive, would feel if he saw that people were using the Star Trek franchise to unleash their sadistic self? :)
