"Preparations"

"Preparations"

A Log by Ensign Kevin Anderson

Kevin was in his quarters to prepare for the away mission. They would leave when Gerran returned which would be soon. Another away mission, at least this time they wouldn't have to fight for their lives. If he hadn't jinxed it now that was. He was busy reading through some essays to get an idea of what he was to expect. Of course, there were no papers on the place they were were going to as it was uncharted but he had looked for papers on places with similar conditions, which meant that flora and fauna would most likely have developed similarly.

When he came across a section about poisonous animals Kevin started to wonder if they'd take a doctor, too. Might be a good idea to do so as there was no way of telling what kind of poisons they might encounter. They wouldn't be the first team of scientists to lose a man to unknown poisons during an expedition. He sighed and shook his head, he shouldn't worry so much, everything would be alright.

Kevin reached for an empty PADD and wrote down a lot of educated guesses of what he expected them to find. Chief Amreis would appreciate that and he would have something to compare his findings to when they returned. He wasn't actually expecting them to run into many dangers. A couple of poisonous animals as appeared all over the Galaxy maybe as well as some plants they might want to stay away from. Their main problem would be that there was no way of telling what antidoted they needed, But on the whole there probably wouldn't be anything, they'd go there, collect samples and return to the station where they'd catalogue them. Still Kevin made sure to include a few possibly dangerous scenarios in his report just to be prepared for anything.
