After the after-party

Brian woke from his sleep. his head was pounding, his body sore, and his stomach felt like a mold of jello was wobbling inside of him. He drank heavily the night before. not to run away from a problem, as far as he knew, but rather to celebrate. A whole slew of awards and promotions had been handed out, followed by a gathering, which, towards the end, involved Brian doing a drink called a Denobulan Shuttle Bomb. Actually, it involved him doing several of the drinks. 3 to be precise. The drinks were to celebrate his promotion. Gold drinks for gold pips, and black drinks for black pips. He had the gold drinks. Three of them. Each one reminding him several hours later how much it will hurt having the new responsibilities of Commander. He dreaded the day they ever made him Captain.

Synthehol would have been a great solution to this, but Denobulan drinks, by Denobulan law, can not be made with Synthehol, as of 2345. Star Fleet Officers have been paying the price for it, ever since.

Brian stood up, slowly. very, very slowly. He took a few staggered steps towards the table in the corner of his quarters. He looked for a glass of water, what he found was priceless. It was a note and a box.

The note read "Brian, congratulations on your promotion. A gift to get you through the first few hours. Love always, your friendly Sickbay Medical Staff"

Like a bear trying to get food from a container, he tore the box open to reveal the most beautiful thing he had ever seen. A hypo-spray filled with the cure for the common hangover. He injected himself with it and went to go take a shower. By the time his shower would be done, he figured, the hangover would be gone and he would be back to normal.

He walked in to the sonic shower. "Computer, shower on" he said, after trying several times to form the words.

"Negative," the computer piped back. "Sonic shower is offline to these quarters."

Like a child not getting his way, he became agitated. "Computer, turn...it...on...NOW"

"Can not comply with order. You are not authorized to use this shower," the computer quipped back.

Muttering to himself, "Must be a prank from Eli, or even worse Dent."

"Computer", he said aloud "what shower, pray-tell, am I authorized to use?"

"The shower in room 15-A-173"

"That's 3 doors down the hall, and its a vacant room"

"Not anymore" chimed in the computer

"Who is living there?" he asked

"Commander Brian Brown" the computer stated.

"They must've switched rooms on me while I was drunk to better add to the gag." he muttered.

Brian put on a robe and slippers and walked out the door. He walked down the hall until he got to 15-A-173 and he walked in.

The room was bare. Completely bare. And it was bigger. much bigger than the LCDR room he was currently residing in. His last quarters were a bedroom and small living room plus shower. These quarters had a large living room, large bedroom, a second room he could only figure could be used as a second bedroom, and an actual working shower, not just a sonic shower, a water shower.

He stepped into the bathroom. On the counter was a set of towels. thick, fluffy towels, and a card. The inscription simlpy read "R.H.I.P." and Brian knew immediately it was going to be good living here.

Brian spent about an hour in the shower/bath. It had been so long since he had a good shower. He dried off, put the robe and slippers back on, grabbed his towel and exited the bathroom. He jumped for a second. Startled and confused, then came to. "Like little elves," he said. Someone had moved his belongings into the new room without him knowing, probably just beaming everything in in one shot.

He looked in the mirror, his head no longer in pain, and he straightened his uniform. He walked out the door and headed to work. Another exciting day aboard Sky Harbor Aegis...
