“The Visitor”

Written by: Lieutenant SG TParek and Lieutenant JG Shaow JoNs

Shaow was happily ensconced in her quarters, reading a novel from a data padd. It felt good to have some leave time and just relax with a good digital book.

The door chimed, a slightly ominous sound against the paradise of quiet in the Caitian's quarters.

The feline officer placed the flat data device on a side table, curious as to the unexpected visitor. "Enter!"

A fellow blonde female entered, arching an eyebrow. "Have you anything to say for yourself?" she inquired, a little huffy.

The newly minted Security Chief stood, her manner one of confusion. "Sir?"

"I saw the communications records, Lieutenant," she downright snapped. "This is the second time I've had to deal with people going behind my back in the realm of communications, and I've had quite enough of it!"

JoNs placed a paw to her temple, as if a sudden headache was looming. "Great Bird...I knew this would occur eventually. Lieutenant, I will explain..."

“Do so, and quickly, before I contact Captain Giovanni." The Vulcan crossed her arms, glaring at the feline.

The blonde furred Caitian flicked her tail once, and composed her thoughts, all while under the glare of said unhappy Vulcan woman. "Oh my...well, this can be considered quite amusing..."

"I don't think so. Speak, Lieutenant JoN's."

"Sir, it was my decision to allow the comm lines to be used, and at the time, it was for the benefit of the crew. Mister Gallus had gotten some Andorian equations to aid in the wormhole trip back to this sector; I did speak with him regarding his asylum request and having no contact with his home world, at least for now, I assure you. But, I did allow him to complete his research, and use the comm lines in such a surreptitious manner...it was a shared agreement to stay quiet on the matter, you might say sir."

"I see. And you did not see fit to inform me? This was, after all, under my purview..."

"That is correct Lieutenant." The Caitians tail drooped. "If the equations were to benefit the journey back, I was willing to look the other way for a bit."

"I am sure the captain would not have complained, but informing us would have been an essential component in the procedure."

“Yes sir." Shaow was indeed on her best conversation behavior. "I understand that, but when dealing with Mister Gallus, it is sometimes easier to ignore procedure and move things along - to avoid any prolonged contact with him." She flipped an ear back. "Either that, or I was going to knock him into next year."

"Understandable. But if you are to be chief of security, you need to exercise better judgment." T'Parek collapsed against the bulkhead. "At least we're home," she acquiesced.

"Yes, and I am working on that - the chief position was a bit of a surprise as the humans say. Well....the humans are home, not our home. And sir? Are you going to speak to the Captain regarding this?" The Caitian tried to sound unconcerned, but only half succeeded.

"Do you think I should?" T'Parek asked, pointedly.

"I would very much like for this to be kept between us. There will be no further incidents, I assure you."

"That's what Gallus said, I believe... but nevertheless, I'll trust you. The next time will be reported to Giovanni."

The young Caitian was a bit shocked - the strict Vulcan gave her a bit of a break? "Thank you Lieutenant. The trust will not be misplaced."

"Very good. Anything else I should know about while I'm here?"

The junior grade feline lieutenant paused, thinking for a moment. "Sir, I am positive that there is nothing else that you should be aware off. And I do apologize for the prior inconvenience."

"Not a terrible problem. Don't let it happen again. Good day, Lieutenant," she said before disappearing quickly the way she'd come.

“....that woman is like the wind..."
