Enthusiastic, aren't we. Welcome, by the way.

 

However, you might want to hold off until Tuesday. This is the Memorial Day holiday weekend in the States, so all official Academies have been canceled, as noted here.

 

That being said, I'd recommend reading: How to sim, as well as: Tips from the Moose

 

I'd also recommend steering clear from any Academy NDak hosts, unless you don't mind not surviving. If the Red Star is running this weekend, I'd recommend visiting there. It's an In-character chat open to all, so you're apt to see a variety of simming styles there.

 

One further recommendation is be somewhat knowledgeable of the ST universe. It's not one hundred percent required, but it helps. Especially when the GMs decide on doing a rare TOS-era (show or movie) Academy.

I was brought up on Star Trek, but my 'enthusiasm' went further than my parents, I own many of the Star Trek Compainion books, and have read them all. I also have the Captain's Logs books. My favorite ref. guide is The Star Trek Encyclopedia. Although I haven't seen all the Episodes, I'm hoping to buy all the DVDs, when I get some money!
