TOS, without a doubt.

Why, you ask?

10) No Wesley (or other annoyingly angsty main-ish characters)

9) Kirk gets the babe every week. (Could explain why he wanted to stay in command of the Enterprise.)

8) McCoy/Spock argument about race every week.

7) Cheesy special effects (but they're so dated, they're lovable)

6) "I'm a doctor, not a ..."

5) At least one red shirt dies per episode, and Kirk doesn't angst about it.

4) Ricardo Montalban as a bad guy

3) Fairly successful spin off of 6.5 movies and five spin off series

2) Had to start somewhere

And the number one reason why I like TOS: Miniskirts, go go boots, Orion slave girls, and really hot alien babes.

::noting Kansas is currently modeling her old-fashioned red miniskirted uniform and black go go boots:: I'd say very well, DA.

I liked Voyager. It had better writing for the most part and was faster-paced. Plus with B'elanna and 7 of 9 you couldn't go wrong.

I do wish they would have explained how they could blow up something like 15 shuttles when they entered the Delta Quadrant with only 3 I think.

Of course, I voted TOS. However, I've noticed that every six months when someone ventures to start this topic - Next Gen usually comes out the winner.

I think it has something to do with Next Gen being the first mainstream spin off series, being in the right place at the right time, and having a ready crop of new and old Sci Fi/Trek fans willing to check it out.

But I mean really - how can you not love a classic show that has a mini-skirted yeoman exploring a hostile planet? Come on now, admit it, it's fun. :-)

And besides, the "kilt" really doesn't do it.

No fair Marx, you played the Romulan card. But perhaps we should declare a truce for the sake of this topic. :P

Only after I throw down the Vulcan card.

its a toss up between ds9 and tng for me, i grew up with my dad watching tng, but when ds9 came out, that is the one i watched by choice etc.

there are a couple cavets though, tng was good AFTER riker got the beard, and they changed from the 'old style' no collar uniforms, to the newer ones with the collars. could have just been a concidence, but thats when i noticed they started becoming a better crew, more cohesive and so forth.

again, could be a just good timing, but ds9 got much better around the time sisko shaved his head. i find ds9 good, because they somehow were able to get so many good stories around a station that never moved, as opposed to tng, tos, et al. where they traveled to go to their stories.

i put my 2 cents in for ds9 though, just cause the balance tipped a little bit more in their favour.

I honestly think those Next Gen Male/Female Skirts fall under the "what where the designers smoking at that time and where can we get some". Unless, and I'm prolly reaching here, the costume was intended as a nod to the Original Series. ;-)

Here here!! It wouldn't be a skirt debate if I didn't jump in. I HATE (yes it's a strong word but I will use it) those skirts. TOS and TNG. I mean why in the name of all that is good must we put the ladies in a skirt that they can't even bend over in? It's just not cool. I mean all the TOS ladies look like they are really uncomfortable. Deanna looks like a Trek cheer leader and the men...well don't get me started. Needless to say I will give the women a thumbs up because they took the bad costume decision and made it work because I mean in the end it takes a real women to kick @ss and take names while wearing a mini skirt and go-go boots.

::throws her 2 cents in and takes a lighter to a polyester mini shirt::

You know what I have nver understood is why the men on TOS wear so much eye make up? I think McCoy wears more eye shadow than me and I am a girl!

Kelley's my boy - gotta jump in! :-)

I'm honestly not sure what is up with the TOS men and the eye makeup - maybe it was the times, makeup practices, the eyes showed better on screen with the cameras and equipment used at that time. It's kind of like "whoa, nice eyelashes there big guy".

I do know that DeForest Kelley had the heavy eye makeup going on in the first season ("The Man trap" and "Shoreleave" in particular). In Season two and three, his eye makeup was toned down. And, I did read (no, I honestly don't remember and can't site the source) that Kelley himself handled his eye makeup, so obviously he switched the amount he used for some reason.

Random note: the first season cinematography/screen quality of TOS was "muddy" looking, with the bright colors and general set looks muted and such. Seasons two and three went "brighter".

All I can picture now is Kelley sitting in his dressing room looking at all his eye shadows. Possibly thinking, "should I were the blue today or the green? The green does bring out my eyes tho and compliments my uniform."

But I do like DeForest Kelley, there is something about him that amuses me. I think it is the fact that he always argues with everyone, like he doesn't really want to be there. But when push comes to shove he gets the job done

While I love all the shows, I have to support DS9. Mainly cause Captain Sisko is caught between his position with Starfleet and serving as the Emissary. But on top of that, he has to be a single parent in a strange environment lightyears from home. It just seems a little more "real" to me than the others.

Not to mention, "The Visitor" is one of the greatest episodes ever. It made me cry...

I love the Dominion War personaly.... space war type stuff is fun.

My favorite is Voyager, but DS9 is close. The Dominion War was great. Instead of seeing the usual stuff, there was a war not only fought in space, but on the ground. Made it more realistic.
