Yesterday, the boards and chat went a bit wonky. Luckily, due to some quick work, it all came up in time for the Agincourt, the Arcadia, and the Academy to do our simming thing.

I'd love to take the credit, but all I did was leave a voicemail for Webbie. I still don't know what went wrong and what was fixed, but I'll update everyone once I have some details.

Webbie told me today that there was another IP that was slamming the Boards with requests that flooded the mySQL and made it hit the maximum number of open connections. The IP was from an exploited server since it was coming from another server provider besides ours. It was reported to the IP owner, and then that IP was blocked and our SQL was restarted to fix the issue, thanks.

Think of our website like a big mama pig. And we are all piglets.. and once in a while we go to mama pig for some milk. But the neighboring farmers pig broke down the fence, and all of his ugly, mean piglets came in and crowded our mama pig, taking all the teets. So when we went for milk, we were turned away by the mean piglets. So Webbie called the other farmer and the other farmer locked his piglets back up and repaired the fence. But our mama pig was confused and still wasn't giving out milk to us good piglets. So Webbie reset her. And now there is plenty of milk to go around.

 

I just love happy endings!

OK, I have a funny story about baby back ribs.

 

A couple weekends ago I was having dinner with some colleagues. One of them, because of my small frame, bet me that I couldn't eat a full plate of baby back ribs. Just to show him up I ordered an extra half rack and was still hungry.

 

Note: If you are going to dinner with a bunch of people, be the guy who eats like a pig, not the guy who just gets a salad. When they divide the bill you end up getting most of your food paid for by everyone else. :)

Mmost people split bills by food ordered, not evenly, but should you have friends who split bills evenly, this method will get you nothing but friends who refuse to go to dinner with you.
