"Ideals Lost"

The last few moments had the young Lieutenant rather amazed. First The Commodore admitting his Vessel, the USS Aries staged the attack on the Lincoln Outpost. Then discussion on the bridge on how to complete the mission via destruction of the Proxima Centauri and the Manticore herself to eradicate all traces of this creation...apparently a lethal creation by Federation scientists.

Mitar was repulsed by the thought.  The Federation had created this organism, which had killed two of his fellow crewman?  What were the creator's of this bioagent final goal, a planet wide killer?   It was insane. None of this fit with the honorable precepts taught at Starfleet academy..and  the Mission of  the Federation itself.  Who could of authorized such a project?  Well apparently, something went wrong 10 years ago..and still is going wrong today.

If the Problem wasn't bad enough the solutions were even worse the Bolian thought.  Deployment of the Planet Killer (PK) Ordinance weapon to eradicate anything left from this nefarious project, and the destruction of the Manticore herself if Garnoopy's "mouse-trap" was  unable to contain the bio-organism...born on the world  below.  Mitar knew from the Academy that there were instances in the past of Starships having to be destroyed due to biohazards onboard. But destroying a  planet was something else altogether. It was  ...unthinkable...for a  Federation officer to do.  No,  Mitar concluded...unprecedented to his knowledge.  Would it come down to it.

One thing for certain, if  the Manticore were to  get out of this intact, someone had to launch an internal investigation over this whole matter.  Ideals and  principles of the  UFP had been clearly disregarded, not to mention several treaties on weapons research.  Mitar was  determined that  someone  had to be held responsible for the  deaths of  two crewman on  the Manticore  and whomever they were should be brought to trial.  And he didn't give a darn if it was the Consul General either.
