"Down to Crunchtime"

Meanwhile, on Excalibur...

A single limb reached towards the cold, grey sky above. The curious eyes of a female scanned the vicinity for signs of movement. There was none. The area was deserted. Quiet, without a threat.

Then the world dissolved into hell.

Something came at her, furious. Insane, perhaps -- maddened and confused. Yet the female remained still.

Her assailant stopped in its tracks. Perhaps it wasn't so clear what it was attacking now, without a moving target to launch its campaign to death.

Finally, she lashed out, at the perfect time. Her honed reflexes caught her prey completely off-guard.

Crunch.

The tarantula sat back, carefully helping the just-tossed-in cricket into her mouth, mandibles chomping hungrily at the exoskeleton of the insect.

Patience was a virtue, Citrus told herself. Patience was a virtue.
