Ens. Jorin

The Young and Nervous

The first 26 hours of Jorin's life on the Reaent ended with exhaustion, and a much needed sonic shower. They began much differently.

Jorin couldn't remember being so excited in his life. He was standing outside the sickbay doors of the USS Reaent, and while there was debris and muted chaos all around, he was pleased that he finally had his first real post aboard a starship. The happiness didn't give way for the rest of his first 26 hours, but his nerves and his excitement sure did.

He doesn't know when or how he started to crack since most of the shift is a blur in his mind... the captain stricken with a disease he'd never heard of, his new CMO dolling out orders while lending a caring touch to all those around, and repeated trips between beds and decks to help in the aftermath of what seemed to be the worst space battle he'd seen with his own two eyes. But by the time he was relieved in the sickbay by the next shift, his hands, lips, and even his mind tembled with fatigue.

Nothing at the Academy was ever this taxing, he thought as he stepped out of the shower and into his quarters. He moved over to his bed and crawled into a sitting position against the wall. He now knew how hard things were going to be, and what this life was really going to be like.

He shut his eyes and began to control his breathing. Jorin is young, and nervous, and he knew that only some time consulting Yuul could calm him enough to strengthen his resovle to make it through the next 26 hours.
