"Froo Froo"

4.18.07

USS Agincourt NCC-81762

“Froo Froo”

Knitting.

Knitting?

Knitting!

Knitting?!

As an officer of the Starfleet, it really was not a good idea to be easily distracted, or not focused on your work. This was doubly so on an enclosed workplace such as a starship. Engineering, Medical, Marines, Security and Sciences – everyone, out of necessity, needed to pay attention to their work so as not to compromise the other departments in a domino effect.

Knitting.

So, with that said – why was I so distracted by a certain Xenexian and her new hobby?

Knitting was a time honored tradition on quite a few planets, and if it wasn’t for knitting, we wouldn’t have sweaters and scarves from grandmothers and aunts the cosmos over. Everyone needed a hobby, and I really have no right to be surprised at Odiles new interest; I myself have been teased over the years for my holo-program forays into the Ancient West. Caitian + Fictionalized Earth History = Huh? Say what?

But, I mean really, the whole knitting thing was a little froo froofy-ized coming at it from the Odile standpoint.

I kept sneaking furtive glances over at the bridge operations station, at least until some sort of faint signal was detected over the subspace comms. Wonderful! An official interruption to the Wide World of Knitting Xenexian.

I re-focused the attention span and moved closer to the tactical station and had the usual security paranoia conversation with the officer on duty – Lieutenant Black-Knight, a welcome addition to the security ranks - any indication of signal frequency, familiar or not, do any of the known Perseus Arm players claim ownership in this particular section, etc.

Knitting?

After the conversation with Black-Knight, and contributing some more stomach acid to the security ulcer, I headed over to the bridge station that Prell was ensconced at. He and I needed to have the “junior officers recently promoted to lieutenant commander, do we contact the CO and XO Colonels now or later concerning said weird subspace signal?” conversation. And this conversation will contribute to my command level recurring headache.

Doctor Levy and Mister Troll? I have this pain *here* and *here*.

Knitting!

I stood by Javin’s station, waiting patiently for the updated signal data to appear on the console view screen, so it could be reviewed and we could come to a solid decision. But, like a sneaking wraith, my thoughts were again corrupted by the encroaching darkness….

Knitting?!

My gaze furtively latched onto Odile again, and I felt The Grin plaster itself across my muzzle.

I really shouldn’t

Yes, I really should.

I removed my personal data padd from the secure backing holster attached just below the left section of my waistband and quickly composed a text message. The completed message was forwarded to the ops console, and I heard the incoming message ping from across the bridge.

I glanced over my shoulder and formed a rudimentary mental tactical plan. The turbo lift was only a few feet away at a good solid airborne pounce. A definite escape route possibility.

Dear Odile,

Could you please knit me a dark green sweater? It would set off my gold fur marvelously. Oh! And a green cozy holster for my D’k’tang knife – that way, I would have a matching set!

Love,

Commander Tabby

... is everyone on the ship noticing?

... and would you actually wear it? I'd pay to see that.

Will get right to work on that request.

Love,

Your favorite evil Xenexian warrior woman. Remember, the dagger is sharp.
