Name Dictionary

Well, I have actually wondered this with several STSF members names sounded like, so here: I give you the "page to tell how to say your name".

For me, it is Hewitt Demore. (Surely you can say Hewitt)

First, you say "Hewitt":   Hú-it

Then "Demore": Dè-môr

That's right.... Hewitt Demore.

So, how about the rest of you? :(

Hey there,

Personally I like the idea and concept of "Hi. You there, no not you the other you, yes you. Come here. Yes I am talking to you. No, not you, you. Get over here!"

::feels a bout of pondering coming on -- y'all can hide if you want::  Really, names are overrated.  I mean, we have such wonderful ways of getting people's attention that don't involve names per say... just imagine what would happen if I were to call out 'Oh, look, a donut!' or 'Ooh, nice shoes!'... and then we have the lovely descriptors... 'Hey, old guy!' for instance...

Of course, the way to get every GM in earshot to come running is quite simple -- can you guess the magic words? Here:

Spoiler (Highlight to Read):

Look -- Unkilled cadets!!

::ducking and running::

"Hello i'm Moe or as the ladies like to call me, 'hey you behind the bushes!' :: silence :: umm is this thing on?"

Barney Answers "No!"

Classic!

Well, this is a subject I've had to deal with all my life. Yvon is my real first name. I just use a different last name online as it reflects (kinda) my real persona-ish (its a little tweaked, of course).

But, being named Yvon, people automatically think and say Yvonne. Ok, so this assumption is

SO WRONG!!!

It's actually pronounced in the Russian vernacular, Ivan.

So, for those of you who think I'm a woman, you obviously haven't met me yet so I could correct you or think that I really like to mow lawns.   :(

Hmm, okay,  You, threaten her with the stiletto heels to move her this way.  You, lure her closer with the donuts.  Then, I'll hit her with my walker!

Ah, yes, and for those of you who think (or used to think) I'm a woman (Garnoopy!), let it be known that you're the reason that Lo'Ami became my last name.

Anyway, the correct pronunciation is:

Arf-AH-zad Lo-AH-me  (emphasis is placed on the capitalized syllables)

It is *not* like Low-me.

And, I am *not* a woman.  So, guys, stop asking me out... (j/k)  :o

Garnoopy wasn't the only one.  We ALL thought you were a woman!

Wishful thinking?

(alternatively: What's wrong with you people?)

You want the short list, or the long list Lo'Ami?

Well, I think my name is fairly easy to pronounce. Well, not my actual SN in the chat rooms (spg, no vowels), but my character's name (as well as my real life name). But non-the-less, here goes my terrible dictionary skills -

"Spencer Goad" - name (of a geek)

Spen-ser GO-d (no, not god, GO as in Green light GO and then the "d" sound)

Something else that I find interesting (but you probably won't even care about) is what each person's name means. Of course with all these made up names, it doesn't apply so much. But for all inquiring minds to benefit from, my name means - "Despenser of the Goods". (Note to GMs: This does not mean you should assign me to the Cargo Bay from now on).  ::o:

Hmm... True I guess, never really thought about it. Another curious fact, a "goad" is a tool used to help herd oxen. ::shrugs:: :o

::snickers::  Adds this note to the little blue book.....

Hmmm, Cargo bay...    red button....  depressurization accident.....

What good ideas for an upcoming acadmey....

I made an interesting rhyme about Garnoopy once.  Unfortunately I've been asked not to repeat it.

To call me, just say, "RED SHIRT, get over hear, NOW."

Or, you can say "punching bag, get over hear."

Note:this is only available until the Talon gets a new Erein

Hey!! It was all in good fun, though!  Where else do you get to practice for hand-to-hand combat to debilitate and maim Kll'inghannsu?

Garnoopy...you should have sent your brother over, we'd have loved to shown him around the ship. ::o:

I know, I know. I wish I could of had training on a real Kll'inghannsu, but that can wait till the next sim. And as for the tour, he would see a lot of the ship from the transporter room to the daise maenak  :)
