Shaow’s claw pierced the odd shaped plant thing, which promptly dissolved before her eyes and turned into a powder. The powder substance was then promptly swept away, caught up in the air ducts.

 

Oh my.

 

The young Caitian contacted the bridge at that point, informing them of what she had uncovered and the dissipation of the powder. Lieutenant TParek had offered a sharp “Do not touch anything,” (you know, for a non emotional species Vulcans tended to have major tonal inflections) along with further instructions regarding the newly blossomed (no pun intended) situation.

 

Had Shaow made the situation more complicated with the introduction of the powder? The smell wafting through the ship from the plant itself was bad enough, but nothing played havoc worse with a ships environmental ducting then a powder based irritant.

 

Enough. Security had some work to do, and her mind started going over the standard earth command procedures that she had learned, which were thankfully not that much different then the emergency practices employed by the Caitian merchant fleet .

 

The brown furred Caitian turned at the arrival of the backup sent by Commander Giovanni – fellow ensigns Jerrie and Garcia – and spoke to them, her normally purred trill sporting a faint tinge of worry. “We need to lock down this area as best we can.” She pointed a claw at the nearby access chute. “Some sort of plant is posing a problem, and the stalks can dissolve into powder if touched, so this area is now off limits to unnecessary personnel.”

 

She paused. “And…ahem…no touching any plants that you come across, of course.”
