Famous Star Trek Home to be Listed on Ebay later this week

Yes, it's old news that Star Trek fan Tony Alleyne remodeled his apartment in England based upon

one of his favorite shows, Star Trek Voyager. Sadly though, this hobby has caused the empassioned fan

to have to file for bankruptcy.

Copper Anderson of CNN's The Spot, has reported that the home will be listed on Ebay later this week and up for bids. Star Trek home as shown on The Spot

So get out the checkbooks and your PayPal accounts, if you really want to live in Star Trek luxury.

Now that he is bankrupt (and divorced) maybe he can move back to his parents' basement and start over again.

Seriously, it is people like this that give Trekees a bad name. Not like us who only like to role play and spew technobabble and... oh, wait

Y'know, I admit I have a huge fondness for Trek - heck, I love it. I RPG, I collect the memorabilia (I have, however, been forbidden to place any more Trek ornaments on the holiday tree ^_^ ), I even have a personalized Trek license plate. ::proud nerd::

The whole Trek house thing? I'm not downing the effort, but when the fanaticism heads into the bankruptcy and divorce areas, that is totally over the edge and not healthy. An entire room devoted to Trek stuff - an at home office, family room, bedroom - is much more doable and grounded here on the Earth.

And as for the EBay Trek house auction? I think this is a marginally stupid idea. But in a perfect world, a fundraising/charity group buys the home, offers tours, and then the money goes toward cancer research.

I agree 100%. He just went over the top. His intention was to sell the idea, and build Trek houses for fans...but he didn't think very practically, namely that those who have the money to do such a thing probably have wives who would very much object, or parents who don't like their Trekkie doing any decorating outside their designated basement (ducks) :).

A single room would have been much better, as an example. And really, though he had a good idea...he funded it with credit cards?!? The whole thing was doomed from the getgo. He should have stepped back and reevaluated his idea after his wife left him ^_^ I hate to ask him if he did any market research before taking the plunge.

Ebay...I thought I remembered him doing this before.

What I really want to know is...where did you get a Trek license plate!

It is a legal state license plate, not one of the Trek plate frames that you see (I am actually looking for one of these ;-)); I filled out the paperwork for my state DMV ( I assume the necessary paper work available on line for all states), sent it off with my three Trek choices, and boom, six weeks later the plate came in the mail. >^..^<

I've contemplated that. But then, I prefer to be the stealthy Trek geek. It's bad enough that I've got my EMS squad patch, an LED blue light mounted there (NJ allows volley EMTs/Firefighters to use blue lights), my base registration for my Guard unit (That's kinda mandatory)and an "Iraqi Freedom Veteran" ballcap on the rear deck of my car.
