I'm still amazed at the orders I've received and the aid we are required to provide this crazy scientist! I think SFSci has spent too many years staring into their own test tube racks for it to be good. They REALLY need to get out more, but not like this!!

So, this Dr. Zwicky is the great-great-great-whoknows how great grandson of the Dr. Fritz Zwicky, the discoverer of Dark Matter in the mid 20th Century on Earth. Didn't they learn their lesson with inbreeding of dogs even back then? So our version of old Fritzy has picked up on his ancestors work and decided that we could use this DM to our benefit and he's convinced enough people of this that he is being taken seriously and provided a fleetwide project for it.

It turns out that those damned Cremorian Barking Spiders were a plant onboard. SFSci made sure that Escher got to see "Very Interesting" articles about them and their wonderful capabilities. In reality, they have no beneficial aspects besides the one that Zwicky needs them for. The rest of the stories - about their sweat having healing powers; or their cells can be base cellular structures to grow any other cell; or how they can calm fussy babies and soothe them to sleep; or how they can solve Euclidean Mathematics with their antennae - whatever they all were... was just a lie. In a lab condition, with a very small amount of DM, these spiders have been shown to be able to manipulate and control the DM. No one knew how they would react in the "real world," so they persuaded Escher to bring some onboard Manticore and now their little plan is complete.

So, we have a Dark Matter scoop, we have Cremorian Barking Spiders and we have Dr. Gerhard Zwicky and his 14 giant crates of supplies onboard. Off we go, to the Caprica Quasar Nebula, one of the areas in known space to have the greatest concentration of Quasars AND the greatest amount of gravitational flux. Some days I wish we really WERE a space tug!
