USS Agincourt NCC-81762

Perseus Arm

Written by: Lieutenants Senior Grade Kroells and JoNs

Jamie pondered over the data sprawled out on his computer screen, his free hand effortlessly missing the nicks in his desk from Condacin Furnitures. The carvings were complimentary.

While Jamie was becoming an expert on knife-based carvings, Kansas was currently pacing outside of the entrance to the sciences offices, a bit flustered, which seemed to be her normal state of being these last couple of days. Decision made, she stalked in and made a direct route to the chief’s office. She knocked on the doorjamb and spoke tentatively. "Permission to enter?"

His eyes shot up at the door as he heard Kansas's voice. Didn't expect to see her anytime soon. "Come in."

The Caitian also hadn't expected to be there anytime soon, but duty called and she was in feline boldness mode with regard to the 'kiss thing'. "Hello Jamie. I am here on business, but I need to say something first. That kiss, in the sickbay." She paused. "I won’t deny that I enjoyed it, but I feel as if we need to forget it happened."

His hand slipped for a second causing a splinter to wedge into his finger. He winced for a second at the sudden pain before looking up to her. "If that's how you wish it. I'm not one to try and control other people."

The Caitian glanced down at the decking, masking the quick manifestation of sorrow that flitted across her features. Gods, why was romance always so complicated, at least in her case. Her gaze latched back onto the sciences chief. “Thank you. Romance and relationships have a way of getting in the way of a Fleeter career, and vice versa. At this point in my life, I merely wish to concentrate on the career. It's nothing personal."

"What happened to your desk?" It was an honest query as she finally noticed the carvings gracing the surface of the desk. And to be honest, she was changing the subject so the conversation didn’t hurt anymore then it already did.

He shrugged as he nursed his impaled finger. "Odile made it her own while I was out. At least it's original."

The Caitian security chief chuckled softly. "Oh yes, she is original, I will grant her that." With a slow, easy pace, Kansas bridged the distance to the desk and offered the padd to Jamie. "Security is now assisting sciences with the background check on Ms. Attitude Problem. That padd contains the tentative outline as to what decades and years my department will be checking into, and my people will co ordinate with your people on this."

"If you get that finger looked at," Kansas pointed to the offending digit, "beware our guest. She has quite the mouth on her now that she is awake."

Kroells smiled as he looked over her padd, his finger, and then to her. “I think I'd rather not. My choice words would probably get me in trouble."

The feline gave a good natured purred type huff and crossed her arms. "I myself have a wonderful word choice, involving her and the horse she rode in on. But, like you, I feel it is better to refrain…for now." She winked and then turned the conversation back to business. “I also wanted to give you a heads up regarding the security patrols. Our regular shifts will be doubled, on all department sections."

His brow quirked up as he smirked. "Someone stealing office supplies?"

JoNs indicated the office chair in front of his desk and sat down, rubbing a tension kink from her neck with a paw. "I wish. Matter of fact, I think I'd welcome an office supply kleptomaniac. The general lockdown is just some added precaution due to The Guest. And yes, paranoia is part of the job." She offered a slight smile.

"Double Security for my nerdly scientists? Then she must be the Super Augment rumor I heard on Thursday."

"Oh yes - the rumors are running rampant. Super Augment. Hidden Agenda. Bad Energy Vibes. High Born Colony Royalty. Deep Cover Agent. I myself have ten credits down in the security office pool for Insectoid Alien Life Form that Bursts Out of Host's Chest.” On that last description, Kansas's green eyes flashed with an unbridled glee.

He let out a wicked laugh as he pictured the sight. "You know, in my research on her time period, I found some rather amusing alien movies. Hunting humans for sport, mass carnage - I wouldn't mind a chest bursting alien. It'd be a dramatic way to go."

"Dramatic and messy. Ick." An amused tail flick.

"Hey, if it’s the last thing I'm doing, I’m making sure someone has to clean it up." A small smile crept out, before he lost it and laughed in amusement.

"Incoming insectoid baddie - duck!" JoNs joined the laughter as well; her purring intermixed with the chuckles. "Gods, it feels good to laugh."

He quickly rubbed his sides, his kidney, or whatever it was hurting from all the laughter. "You should make it a habit."

The felinoid chief's smile waned a bit, but remained nonetheless. "Good, solid, medical advice Doctor." As she stated that, she stood up and rolled her neck. "Security will keep you abreast of any pertinent ancient information we gather, but for now I need to return to my duties; I have a couple provisional squad members I need to beat into submiss...I mean, help out with their training." A good natured smile exposed her fangs.

Jamie smiled as he pushed back from his desk and started going over the information on his screen once again. "Beat away toots, don’t let me get in your way."

She touched two paw digits to her forehead in a respectful salute to Kroells and then dropped to all fours, moving with predatory quickness out of the science offices.

Kroells watched her leave, a small sigh passing through his nostrils before turning back to his previous business.
