“Plotting Session”

Written by: Kairi, Condacin and JoNs

The setting in the mess hall was pretty quiet. There were only a handful of people scattered amongst the tables. Unfortunately the peace was about to break. Engineering lieutenant Kassem entered the area, leading a very disturbed and angered Caitian by the paw. "Kansas, try to calm down. Maybe something to eat or drink will help."

The Caitian security lieutenant answered with a low growl, but she allowed herself to be led; it was the most logical course of action at this point. Her ears where still flat, and her tail and back neck fur were puffed out. "Right now, I want nothing more then to go back to that sickbay and tell that woman exactly what she can go do with herself and the equine she rode in on. I still may."

Kairi led Kansas to an empty table in the corner. "You know the Colonels would never allow that." They were getting many stares. Some never seeing an angered Caitian before. Others were awaiting what this week’s gossip on the ship might be. Kairi shrugged it off as the finally got to the table. "Here, have a seat. I'll get you something to eat. Anything specific?"

JoNs acceded to the engineer and sat down; Kairi could be direct in a good way when she wanted to, and it was important to remember that. "It would be worth the fall out from command." She rolled her neck, trying to work out the annoyance induced kinks. "I'd better keep it simple with the way my stomach acid is churning. I'll take some water and a buttered bagel. Thank you." JoNs flashed a mild 'can I help you' look to a crewmember that had developed a bad case of the stares. She became re-interested in her food.

Kairi grinned at the crewmember's reaction. "I'll be back then." She moved over to the replicator, ordering a bagel, lightly grilled cheese, and 2 waters. It took a few seconds for the food to be dispensed, and then Kairi was back to the table. "Here you are." She gave Kansas her order and then took her own seat.

The security chief had been staring out the view port next to the table, relaxing by degrees. Her attention focused on Kairi and she reached her paws out to help get the food and drinks settled. The Caitian’s voice came out low. "Thank you for your help in the 'bay. I was fine until our 'guest' got recalcitrant. Honestly, I guess I just needed a shoulder to lean on as they say."

The evil, knife-wielding Xenexian hellion entered the mess hall about then, hands on her hips as she approached the ladies' corner of the room. "I hear," she preambled, "that we're dealing with a Royal Righteous Bitch From Hell in Sickbay. Is this true?"

Lieutenant JoNs merely looked at Odile in mute confirmation, her jaw line set and her feline eyes blazing.

Kairi looked up at Odile, trying to hold back a laugh, for Kansas' sake. "That about sums it up." She motioned to an empty chair. "Have a seat?"

Condacin sat down with a sigh, flopping back into the seat with a look that spoke of either severe annoyance or abdominal distress. Maybe it was a combination. "Why were airlocks invented, again?"

"I love airlocks; we should use them more often. The Royal Pain almost had claws gracing her delicate person. Kairi," JoNs nodded to the engineer, "got me out of there. I abhor ignorance." A tail thump.

"Anyone think the Jelly would mind if we got rid of her?"

Kairi giggled, "I know a good airlock we could throw her out of."

The felinoid began to munch on her bagel, her normal personality slowly reasserting itself in the company of comrades. "I still plan on re-visiting the sick bay and telling her what she can go do with herself. After that we can launch her." A small smile peeked out, showing the tip of a fang.

"You could bite, Kitty. Surely there's a reason you don't file down your teeth."

"If I bit her I'd probably get rabies Odile.”

Smiling, Kairi took a sip of her water. "I heard Shadow has been studying classic horror films lately, maybe we can convince him to do us a favor."

Odile grinned, deviously. "Make sure we get it on tape."

Kansas looked at both Kairi and Odile, flashing a genuine smile. "If Shadow did that, it would be hysterical. I can make copies of the incident from the security feed we set up in medical."

The engineer gave a slight frown and sighed. "Wouldn't that be some sort of violation to the Prime Directive though?"

Odile traced a pattern across the tabletop. "It's not like she's in her own time period. I can't see why she can't get frightened."

"I agree; she already been interfered with. Let's just ask Shadow to zoom through the sickbay one night. Maybe rattle some beakers." The Caitian el tee purred in amusement

'Yeah I know, but I'd feel bad using Shadow like that. He's still trying to adjust to us."

The scientist shrugged. "You think he'd even mind? Tell him it's an experiment."

"Well...I suppose, it wouldn't hurt too bad would it?" Kairi smiled.

Condacin straightened and leaned forward across the table, golden eyes glistening. "Now... do I look human enough at first glance, would you two lovely alien heathens say?"

JoNs started to chuckle in anticipation. "You know....that may work."

"Yeah you do, just try to avoid direct eye contact with her. She spotted me right away." Kairi made a gesture at her ears.

"I believe she needs a good talking to. Any objections?"

"Will you be taking your little toy with you?" The engineer pointed at Odile's knife.

The Caitians normal mischievousness reasserted itself fully. "Not here. Go get her. Do you need a distraction? I can walk into the bay on all fours again." She grinned.

"Do I ever leave this at my quarters?" she asked, patting the dagger contentedly. "Besides, it will add effect to what I have planned."

"I can only imagine..." Kairi laughed.

"And please, don’t be gentle." The Caitian said deadpan.

"I certainly won't. I certainly despise such human qualities as 'gentle'."

Kansas muttered to herself, "That woman needs a good smack...," and then she adopted a mock meditation pose and said louder, "I am calm. All is right with the universe. Ummmmm..."

Kairi noticed the time on a nearby chronometer. "Oh no. I just stood up Javin. I was supposed to meet him in the cargo bay to examine the pod."

Odile smirked, not looking up from the metal of the table. "Oh, I'm sure there are ways that you could win his forgiveness."

The security officer hadn’t missed the Javin either, and smiled. "Oh, so it’s Javin now?"

She blushed a bit. "Oh, uhh...yeah, I always call him Javin..."

Odile chimed in with, "I am sure."

Kairi sunk in her chair a little.

Kansas purred a bit and reached across the table to rest a paw on the other woman’s hand. "No worries Kairi - we are just working on you a little bit. And for the record, we know nothing."

The Xenexian science officer nodded in agreement. "Of course not. And I planned nothing."

She felt a little reassured. "Thanks and I better not keep him waiting anymore." Kairi stood up, collecting her plate and glass. She looked at Kansas. "Try to take it easy. Don't overwork yourself." She then nodded to Odile. "And try not to hurt anyone, too bad."

Kansas offered a wane smile. “I will try. Thank you again Kairi for running some interference."

"I'd be more worried about you overworking... 'Javin' must be such a demanding boss." Odile snickered to herself. "Oh... I won't. Not badly."

Kairi gave a little smirk and then exited the mess hall after depositing her utensils, with a final wave to the other female officers, she exited the mess hall.

"I fear I have an engagement with our guest, as well." Odile put on her most innocent face. "I'll be certain to apprise you of my situation after I'm done with her."

“Yes, by all means pleeeeeaaaase apprise us." The Cait gave the Xenexian a sly look.

"That I will do." She sauntered out... was Odile whistling?

Lieutenant JoNs visually tracked Petty Officer Condacin until she exited the mess hall and then fiddled idly with her napkin. "I do believe our little guest is in for some punishment."
