Spore to Revolutionize Simming?

Grom is normally behind the curve now when it comes to up and coming games, but after a friend shared with me this new came called "Spore," I thought I might as well start a thread about it. A little background, the creator that brought us SimCity and the Sims is working on a project that completely dwarfs these. The game is called Spore and it deals with eight steps of evolution, building a character from the atomic stage all the way through controlling a galactic empire in space.

Here's a couple of videos to watch...they're each about 30 minutes long:

http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=83...198&q=Spore (2005 Demonstration, the game has been significantly enhanced since this time...watch this first)

http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-3...066&q=Spore (Robin Williams creates a character)

The creature creation palate got me thinking about how a game like this might influence simming. I remember many times trying to come up with how exactly a new alien spieces might look and respond to its environoment. With this game's palate, now a graphically challenged individual such as myself can take what normally is hard to convey through words, and be able to visualize it. In addition, the game might make it easier for simmers to create new non-canon species and be able to show the rest of the crew how it performs basic functions (walks, talks, interacts, etc.) In any event, the game looks like it rocks.

Yeah, this looks pretty interesting. I read an article about it a couple months back in my Game Informer or something like that.

I'm going to build an army of mutant space fish that shoot lasers out of their eyes. And they'll rule the galaxy.

If they can design a Care Bear, I'm sure you can design some sort of cat.
