The ship has lost power and is dead in space, with only certain

backup systems working. It seems to be linked with the sudden

"appearance" of many small creatures that we cannot even see.

Following a lead from Science, Chief Garnoopy has taken the

phase cloak and flown around the ship, out of phase. He

detected hundreds of small life forms all through the ship and all

out of phase with us. He also noted that there are none

of the creatures in the Science department. He has captured one

of the creatures in the shuttle's transporter buffer and we now have

it safely inside a stasis field to keep it from shifting out of phase. It

seems to speak a very rudimentary common tongue and so we can

begin to question it.
