Levar Burton on Imagination

LEVAR BURTON AT EISENHOWER AUDITORIUM

"The beauty of the relationship between human beings and written literature has always been that link, that connective tissue that is our imagination. When you have all of the images made up for you and you don't have to do any work, the tendency is to become lazy and complacent and not do any of the imaginative work. If you lose touch with the facility to imagine, the repercussions are really far-reaching in my opinion."

-- Actor and literacy advocate LeVar Burton, speaking Monday (Jan. 29) at Eisenhower Auditorium on Penn State's University Park campus as part of the 2006-07 Distinguished Speaker Series.

Funny - I was just thinking about Levar Burton, too.

He played such a good dancing detective in the Cameo music video for "Word up".

I don't know what is scarier, that you remember that song/video or that you admit to it.

Should you require a more frequent infusion of Mr.Burton ...,he can be viewed regularly on

your local PBS television channel, a venue he and I do subscribe to,and promote.

What better way to influence young, and older minds in a positive way not available to those

of the general population not afforded cable,or sattelite recption,in such a positive venue

of communication,or teaching...
